I just bought a mini stallion and didnot realize till I got home that I received a Faxed or a real good copy of his papers. His name is JAH Miniatures Medicine Man. AMHR# 241433T. Can anyone Help me? And I have learned a valuable lesson. If any one can help you can e-mail me private also. I have e-mailed the last recorded owner but have not gotten an answer yet, hopefully they will help me but I dont know for sure that they are truelly the last owners! Thanks to anyone that willhelp me! Lorie

I had to call both registries for info when I bought my two new guys - one AMHR was missing totally (I didn't even know he was R until I talked to the owner who had him before the lady I bought him from). All my papers were screwed up - the lady I bought them from never transfered them (she bought them at sale and only had them 5 months). Both the registries were very helpful as well as the previous owners.

For the missing R papers (which I'm assuming that's what we'll call your situation - since you don't have the original) - I had to get a signed letter from the owner (listed on the papers- for me that was back 2 owners) to get a duplicate issued to me. What I did is get his number from AMHR and call him, tell him the situation and got his address. I typed the letter and put in a self adressed stamped envelope back to me and sent to the owner listed on the papers. All he had to do is sign the letter and then drop it in the envelope I provided. I then forwarded it on to AMHR (cost was $25 for dup registration I think) - make sure you send it certified or something.

If you have any questions, feel free to pm me....I learned my lesson with papers the hard way, but got them all straightened out.

Geez, I hate it when people buy a registered animal, are given signed transfers, are given information on HOW to transfer...and then don't do it. It's amazing how many horses are still in my name that were sold years ago. Even a couple of fillies!!!! Lazy, cheap, irresponsible, and DUMB! Now ask me how I REALLY feel.

Sonya, Thanks for the info, I am going to try to call the registry on Mon. I already talked to the original owner and he told me he dont have time to fool with it! I even offered to pay him for his time. So on Mon. I will call AMHR, It makes me wonder if he is hiding something. I feel that as long as it isnt costing me I will do what I can to promote my breed. After all if it isnt for people buying theses animals how are we ever going to sell them! Lorie

It really is frustrating when breeders don't keep up their paperwork and even top breeders don't from my experience! Just today I received back all the paperwork I had sent in to get a mini I bought registered because the owner of his dam had not brought her up into their nqme and so she is shown yet as owned by the previous owner!!. The paperwork was not up to date at all and I was paying extra to bring it up to date. Guess the owner forgot they hadn't transfered the mare into their name before selling the colt! Sure does create headaches for others. Good luck in getting your paperwork straightened out! Mary

 This is my pet peive..My feeling are if people are not going to take the time and money to keep up on thier paperwork they should raise grade or not at all...

I've had to do the paperwork dance many times in just a few years.

I always say I'll never do it again, but then find another awsume horse that some fool let the paperwork lapes on or never did in the first place and I'm off dancing again.

Call the registry find out who is the last owner is then contact that person and ask them to help you out. Pay for everything and most pass owner are more then happy to help.

I'm right now dancing with the paperwork on a very nice filly.Purchased her and her dam. Only the filly is 3 and no paperwork was done, because the person said. They were not sure it she could be as she is out of a 1/2 sibling cross. The gal owned both sire & dam still has the stallion. But he is 5 and not perment yet. So he must be measured and late stalion report sent in. UGH

I have offered 3 times to pay for her membership and all the paperwork. She keeps stalling saying "it's too cold to measure the sire".. UGH So hope and pray she not just draging me along...&*%$ it not even her time. She got the stalion up for sale so bring him up to date is plus for her too.

All it will cost her is for a few minutes of her time, I'm going to be out alot of money and time. Not to even mention the headace and sore feet from dancing

I looked it up on studbook online and the owner listed is a JACKIE & LIONEL CARES JR. There address in the AMHR directory is 7553 Greenknoll Ct. Hanover, MD 21076-1532. Their phone number is 240-461-8066. All you have to do is go to the AMHR website and print out a duplicate paper request form and fill it out, then send it to them and get them to sign it and mail it back to you. Then you can put the 15 dollars with it and send it to AMHR and see if they will send the duplicate papers to you. Then you will have to get the old owners to agree to let you sign the papers and do a transfer from them to you and send it in. Thats what I would do. Just ask them for permission to sign their name on the papers. When you send the duplicate certificate form make a thing in writing that says. I Jackie and Lionel Cares Jr. give what ever your name is permission to sign our names on this named horses papers and paperwork to get transfer to current owner. Ask AMHR if it is legal, but I think this may work. Dinda Hand

Dinda, I will try again with the current owners on the papers, but they told me they didnt have time to fool with this! Thanks for the info and i will try again.

Thanks again!
