I took some stills off the video shorts I was doing on my camera the other day.

The rare time you will see me trot anything.

Am riding her in a bitless bridle and Exmoor treefree saddle.

This is cute, caught my son in mid air.

She is such a good mare..all he needs to ride her is a halter, lead line and bareback pad.

Great pics Shari!! I don't know a lot about Fjords, but as a breed they seem to have excellent temperaments. One of the Amish families near us has one that pulls their buggy, which is neat as most of their horses are dark colours and Standardbred.

Weather looks lovely where you are too!

Thanks!

She is a sweet heart. I just can't ride her that much because of a bad disk in my back. Only ride when she needs a tuneup.

She really does well with my son who is a very green rider.

Have to admit she doesn't get worked as much as she needs to be.

OH Shari!

I would be knock knock knockin' on your door for that sweet little mare if I had an empty stall. I have always wanted a fjord as I LOVE drafty type horses (I have a clydesdale now, but he's too TALL to ride on all the time) and ponies...and a fjord is the best of both worlds! I WILL have one some day, but as I can never seem to let a horse leave once it comes here, someone will have to DIE before I have an empty stall. And I'm not hoping that happens any time soon!

She looks like such a sweetheart. I wish I could smooch that cute little face!

Shari- she would take a moment to harness train!!!

Beat ya too it.

She is harness trained. Just don't have a cart and the work Harness I bought a couple of years ago isn't complete. Sigh ~~

Just can't afford a cart. Gimpy body can't handle an Easy Entry cart.

Was wondering if those pioneer forecarts were as smooth as my Country Road cart?

Need to figure out how to make some money. Plan on making some prints from my few paintings but I doubt that would be enough to buy a cart with.

Do have a very nice El dorado flex panel saddle for sale....but no takers yet. That would bring in more than enough for a cart and simple harness.

Here is she in harness with her breeder.

Thanks everyone,,, she is a sweet heart. Loves people.

Jayne, you could always build a stall addition! :bgrin

She's gorgeous Shari! I adore her mane, do they just grow to one length like that or do you have to trim it. She looks smooth too. It's great to see you riding again. Hope your back continues to let you enjoy it, you look like you are having a wonderful time.

Thank you Shirley.

I mostly ride my Icelandic's,,,they are much easier on my body. In fact help me feel better.

For a Trotting horse breed, Fjord mare's walk and trot aren't bad. But something about the way she moves makes me really hurt. Which is sad because she is a good girl. Sigh ~ ~

My Fjord mane needs to be trimmed every couple of weeks or so. Though I cheat and use my clippers.

barnbum, I can always send you names of folks that breed Fjords in your area.

: Can be veryyy helpful in that department! :bgrin

Shari, she's got such a sweet eye! I love her. Would your son mind if I borrowed her some weekend when we're there driving??

What an adorable pony!!! We have a couple here in the ADS driving club and they are the sweetest kindest little things

What a beautiful animal, Shari!

I guess you answered my question already..... I was wondering if she was similar to the Icelandics.

MA,

I guess I would say Kind'a.

Both are Nordic ponies/horses.... :bgrin

But in all honesty I think you will find more Fjords that are super calm and good all arounders.

Lisa,,, have to kind'a giggle.....at the "sweestest little things". <LOL> If we go by weight, mine is 1100lbs! :new_shocked:

They can be sweet but some of them.....well .....ah.....can weigh as much as a QH.

Shari, if I weren't so horizontally challenged, I'd love to have a Fjord. I think they are sturdy enough but I'd look like I was riding a Shetland :new_shocked: Are any of them gaited, like the Icelandics?

Now, see.... I have been around the smaller Nordic horses for 15 years... I think most people are over horsed and look too small on their horses!!

Strange aren't I.

I do not feel strange riding my 12.3 Icey, my 13.2 Ice...or my massive 13.3 hand Fjord. Honestly doesn't feel like I am riding a small horse at all.

Viking people were not short or light people. Have seen some 6ft++ people from Iceland that ride their Viking horses and the horse's have no trouble at all with them!

There are a few Fjords that are gaited like Icelandic's (had one in the wayy past)....in fact I looked for one. However,, once a breeder gets one...they never sell them!! Rare as hens teeth they are!!

This is what I see as normal....

Woodland Dustin is my Mare's Sire.
