I don't know how many (if any) of you love Southern Gospel Music, and follow the Gaithers, but this was brought to my attention this morning. Even if you aren't a gospel music fan, just the quality of his piano playing and skill, especially after all he went through speak for its self...

This was posted on the Greater Vision website...

"Just a few hours ago, I started receiving text messages and phone calls from several friends across the country sharing an unexpected and shocking story about the sudden passing of Gospel Music's most widely-known pianist, Anthony Burger. Since Fay Shedd, who handles our scheduling, also handles the scheduling for Anthony, I immediately called her at home to get more information. After several minutes, she returned my call and confirmed that Anthony had indeed died suddenly, during a concert on the Gaither Bahama Cruise.

Not many details are available at the time of this writing, but initial reports are that Anthony suffered a massive heart attack, while playing the piano during a concert on board the cruise ship.

No other details are available at this time, but I'm sure The Singing News Magazine's website will have online updates available throughout the day on Thursday (2/23).

Please keep Anthony's family in your prayers during this very difficult time."

I have grown up on Southern Gospel and still watch it so much............

We were pretty sad in my household.

Love the Gaither's here too. Been to one concert. Awesome. But what a way to go, doing what he loved.

We had 4 concerts this weekend in North Louisiana, and North East Texas (I'm pooped... drug in at 4:00 this morning) and next weekend we'll be in Pearl, and Gulfport Mississippi so anyone close by ought to come!!! .... ANYWAY.... while we were gone, we heard that he died while playing "We Shall Behold Him" (a VERY powerful song), and when they got him off stage, and brought him to another room, he had already passed. I agree.... what a way to go! We had just AWESOME concerts this weekend, but it does wear one out... Oh... I also read that Anthony Burger left behind a wife and two children.... I've never had the pleasure of meeting the Gaithers, but have had the pleasure of singing with groups that had been on Gaither like Brian Free & Assurance (my favorite), Phil Cross and Poet Voices, Golden Covenent (formerly J.D. Sumner and the Stamps), Naomi & the Segos, and others like the Inspirations and a few others I can't remember... My Aunt and I say that "one day WE'LL be on Gaither".... lol
