I believe that my new AMHR/ASPC miniature shetland stud colt is foundation certified. What do I have to do to get them certified? Also how would a horse beable to be foundation certified?

Thanks!

The registry can tell you if he is or not. Also if he is he will have a gold seal on his papers. If the seal isnt there that doenst mean necessarily that he isnt . You can see if he is eligible and pay 10 dollars to have him certified.

If he is certified he will have the gold Foundation Seal on his papers. If he doesn't have the seal, he hasn't been certified. To be eligible he has to have no ancestors on his papers, and one generation back that isn't on his papers, that are B papered. If he has all A papered ancestors (or no letter designation - those ones predate the A and B) on his papers and one generation off the papers then he is eligible for Foundation Certification. As Lyn said, it costs $10 to have him certified if he's eligible. For his foals to be certified they must be from mares that are also certified or eligible to be certified. If he's bred to a mare that already has the Foundation Seal and he has the Foundation Seal the foal will automatically have the Foundation Seal on its papers.
