Today I made some major progress with hubby. LOL Every time I mention getting a buddy for O So he say's we don't need another horse. Today I was telling him about how since it was nice outside that I wanted to try to spend a lot of time with O So. I was telling him that I kind of feel sorry for him because he must get pretty bored out there by himself. Specially with it being so cold and wet during the last few weeks. I then said that I wouldn't mind finding another mini for O So one day down the road. Something smaller then him, so 25 inches give or take a couple inches. (Remember, I have very little acreage so I will be pushing it with just 2 minis) Well, hubby actually said "yah" in agreement. I even started saying how the stall we just built would be big enough for 2 and I would still be able to use the bus to transport them both.

I was shocked but didn't push the issue. I just left the conversation at that. So I will keep my eye out for that perfect mini friend for O So.

:yeahhusbands not so horse interested
That is a fact! LOL My hubby doesn't know the first thing about any type of horse. He is a city boy through and through. It makes it really hard to convince him that O So needs a buddy! I am getting there though!

As far as how many mini's we will end up with, I can't do 3 or 7 LOL. Sadly, unless we move, 2 is going to have to be my max. As of right now, moving is out of the question. I would love to have 5 acres though.

Only way that can happen is if I can find someone that wants to trade my smaller property for their bigger one! LOL

OOOOoooo sounds exciting! I remember with every animal we brought home me and my mom had to sweet talk my dad into saying yes

I can't wait too.

The bus really worked out good. I have to thank my son for the idea. He called me when I was on the way back home with O So (when I first bought him) and asked about when I was going to get the bus running. That is when it dawned on me, I can use the bus for taking O So places! So hubby built a "stall" for the inside and we had an old handi cap ramp that worked perfect for loading and un loading.

I should have enough room in the current stall to haul two minis, as long as the next one is small enough. If not, I can always take the back seat out and make the stall bigger.

The only down fall to the bus is, it can get kind of stinky when he poops! LOL Once you are moving it isn't bad though!

Haha, I just sweet talked my hubby into something too, a trailer from the same place as mindylee. Paul has been GREAT to work with so far. We are not getting the standard livestock box, mine will be dual axle with brakes, 5x5x8, and have the rack on top. I started out asking hubby for a $1000 beater trailer LOL

Congrats!!

Isn't it great that with time and whining we can get almost anything we want! LOL

When Deb and I 1st got together...I was living in a little tiny 2 bdrm cottage with no acreage and had no horses (one of the few times in my life I was without). A friend of ours said he had a yearling colt for sale he would give us a break on and keep in training for us...talked Deb into that one! Then I saw a gelding I wanted a few months later..."pretty please"...OK, so we now had 2 horses (they were both still with their "owners" in different parts of the country and we would bring them home in September after Nationals and we would board them.

OK, so...things go on...and now less than 2 yrs later, we live on a 5 acre farm with a 10 stall barn and have 9 horses and 2 babies on the way this year....LOL!

Ok have to speak up for us "husbands" or spouses. We're not all saps and if we give in its because we're as addicted to these little ones as you all. We just have to watch the bottom line lol. So while Linda has gotten quite a few of the horses she has wanted what she didn't tell you all are the many many many horses that she really wanted that we couldn't afford at the time and all her whining and eye lash batting didn't help her on those. Like when we were moving here and she kept finding all these horses that she just had to have but if we bought them wouldn't have had the money for the move. So while we do enjoy endulging you, we know that we have to be the sound of reason sometimes. Not to say we don't get caught up in it as much as you sometimes. I love all of our horses and wouldn't know what to do with out them either. And what Linda didn't say is the first gelding that she just "had" to have has now chosen me to be his human much to her chagrine lol.

Just have to add - to Deb and Linda - believe you are on your way to pick up the latest addition!!!! Can't wait to see her.

Congrats ! I hope you get your wish soon. Two are so much more fun than just one and O So would be much happier and healthier too.

I love your "Mini" van
default_wub.png
At first we used our full sized van. Hubby made a box stall in the back and a ramp, it worked very nicely. I loved pulling into the vets office and have other clients there watching as we unloaded horses. They always got a kick out of it and made fun but I think they are just jealous that we had it so easy. No trailer to hook up and no fuss getting horses in or out.

Now we have four mini's so had to get a trailer to fit them all but it's still a snap loading up.

When MindyLee told me about these I had to check them out. The standard four foot ones are too short so I was thinking about seeing if they could special order one with the same things that you just ordered. If you don't mind sharing, what was the cost for ordering the trailer that way ? You can PM me. Thanks !

I had only 1 mini for a while, Bailey. He seemed fine on his own for that period of time as he had 'horse company' at the back fence. I really wanted Bailey to have a buddy but hubby wasn't too keen so I didn't push the issue.

I fell in love with Bailey's 1/2 sister, Willow as soon as she was born. Within a matter of weeks she was here in my yard with her Mother as a suprise from my hubby!!!! Willow's Mother was returned as soon as Willow was weaned and now Bailey and Willow are inseperable.

Husbands have a way of coming around, just sayin....

I hate to see a horse alone. I also have wanted to see OSO have a buddy his own species. Be sure you have the extra space and I guess you know you'll need another stall now. Don't buy the first horse you see; shop around and take your time. You're going to have fun! YAY!

Well, took a couple steps back.

Yesterday I kind of mentioned it again about how he needed a friend and Hubby turned to him ( O So) and said you don't need a friend do you?

I am not going to give up though. I will still look for the perfect friend, but it may take a bit longer!

I just had to pop in here and say I think your bus is ADORABLE! O So should have his own Scooby-Doo style cartoon.
