Today has been a really bad day. I have to have my baby rabbit put down. This is the first time that I have ever had to make this kind of decision. The little guy was 3 months old. He was born with deformed back legs. He seemed to be doing just fine, but the last couple of weeks he had a strange odor to him. I was so afraid of him having some kind of breakdown of his back area and getting infection. I took him to the vet today and the vet said that here was nothing that they could do. That soon I would have to make the decision of putting him down. So I went ahead and decided that I just didn't want him to suffer. He ate just fine and drank water was was so loveable, but when he went to the bathroom, he just couldn't get it out. It would cake up all over his back end, and the bigger he got, the more problems he would have.

This was just the hardest thing that I have ever had to do. The only thing that helps me with this decision is to know that that little guy was loved and cared for. He was a little Lionhead, he was all black with a white button nose. Just the cutiest little thing you ever saw.

I didn't post this for sympathy or pitty, but as a tribute to the little guy. He was a very special little guy and will be miss dearly.

I'm so sorry - it doesn't matter how long we have our furry friends, this decision is never easy.

It just never gets any easier to lose a furbaby, regardless if we have had them in our lives one day or 10 years, but you know what?? I dont think any of us would want it any other way..it shows we love and care about our furkids. I am so sorry to hear about your Bunny, but you made the right decision. (((hugs))) Ce

I am so sorry

It is never easy making that decision and that decision is always harder when there is nothing else wrong with them. He sounded like a little sweety

He was lucky to have you. Hugs ~ Teri

remember the good times, they make it all worthwhile. sometimes the best thing we can do as a human is to end the suffering of our animal companions in a dignified manner. if you think about it, the animals are lucky in that respect... we humans have to linger until we die on our own, no matter how painful or undignified it can get.

{{{hugs}}} to you and

They are so precious, and that is never an easy decision to make. Please take comfort in the fact you did the right, loving, caring thing for your baby. Our daughter-in-law has a Lionhead rabbit - "Valentino." He is our grand bunny

They are beautiful creatures.

Crackerjackjack, I am so sorry to hear about Bunny, it is such a terrible decision to make but it is always the best choice, if they could tell us in words I know that they would tell us that it is what they want, and that they love us!!

At times like this wouldn't it feel better to reach into the screen and actually HUG!
