Feeding is 85% or more of your conditioning. A good feeding program is imperative and I have posted mine several times here. BOSS , Flax, Sunshine supliment are the ony additives to the feed, forrage and beet pulp. Daily grooming is usually just making sure feet have no stones and there are no wounds anywhere. When the mohawks get to me I redo bridle paths. Last year, this is funny but also not.... Sweet tart had a bath at nationals in Sept. We clipped him and took him to a show in April planning to bathe him in Delaware and it was freezing so he went from his bath at nationals to Reserve Jr Champion with only a baby wipe spit polish! You cant do that with every color but this weird grey....no one knew! I think you can over bathe and weaken coat condition by too much "treatment" Miracle groom on a brush does wonders at home. I have had mud dry and fall off the white horses and they looked clean...... I also dont brush manes and tails everyday becuase it breaks the hair. If they get witch knots I use the show sheen and a ladies hair pick to separate them Also regarding winter brushing...some of that dirt and dander down in their coats is like insulation. Most of the time people make horses clean for themselves ....not for the sake of the horse. Isnt always a good thing for them.
Clipping before a show about 3 days....re do face and bridle path day of. Baby oil gel on muzzle and around eyes. Dep on stray mane and tail hairs, hoof polish black on black feet clear on well scrubbed whites. Thats it.
