We get a real wide variety of birds here each year. Not just song birds etc., but others such as Heron, Cranes, Whipporwills and each Spring there is never a shortage of Canada Geese or Mallard Ducks here. This year, we had a new variety visit! I saw them the other day for the first time out in the pasture, there were 2 pairs. Today, I managed to get some pics of them through the window as they were out in the yard, but here was only the one pair there when I took the pics. I have never seen these in person before, and wow, what vibrant colors!! Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, but had to zoom in too far and made the pics quite blurry. Anyway, here are the pair of Wood Ducks that we have here.

Now the male doesn't even look real. I have always loved Wood Ducks. Very cool Mona!

Absolutely beautiful!!!

Wouldn't it be great if they nested close by?

Gorgeous, Mona! Thanks for letting us see!

(I'd happily 'trade' you for some annoying and murderous large ravens!)

They are beautiful, Mona!

They look like some sort of Asian species of duck, not like something you'd find in Canada; I'm a huge nature lover and am fairly knowledgable about wildlife from all over (apparently, not on species of duck in Canada lol)...but I never would have guessed that we had such pretty ducks in Ontario (not to say Mallards and the like aren't pretty...they are very pretty, too
