Thanksgiving day, I had my family, my brothers & their families, and our parents place a hand print on canvas.

The idea came to me as I miss my family..who are out of state. I wanted this so I could feel they are here, even when gone. Not in a sad way, but in a fun way! It turned out great! Next thing, everyone wanted one for their home. So there we were, painting eachothers hands, laughing and making great memories for the kids. Each family drove home with their own!

Before we started, I picked colors that would match our house, let them choice what color to use, and let them place handprint anywhere on 18x24 canvas. It's hung in our home, looks cool, and it means so much to me.

I know it seems silly, but as we were making it, it became important, too. I wanted to share this fun idea, now with the Christmas holiday coming...maybe it's something you would want to do with your loved ones while having them all together.

Hi, it was really fun. At first, my sister in laws were troopers, but the more we worked on it, they had to have one for themselves, rushed to micheals and purchased canvas (which happened to be 2 for the price of 1)....It was great! I added a couple pictures of our finished product.

Love it..we have one with the family hands that was done back in the sixties the only thing l regret now is l have forgotten whose hand belongs to who as some of them have since passed on. l wish l would have copied the hands and names and taped it to the back of the canvas so l would know today who's hand was who's...

Good idea, I better do that.

It's neat knowing your family did this too.

What a great idea!!! I might have to try that this year as well. What kind of paint did you use?

Acrylic paint. You can pick up those little bottles of acrylic paints at any craft store, and I have seen them at walmart and dollar stores. They seem to be about 50 cent to $1 per bottle. It washes off pretty easy too.
