I was reading another topic , and haunted houses came up. I wanted to know more about the expierences some of you have had. I have lived in a house with a lot of `energy`, and wanted to know if some of you had similar expierences. I did not feel threatend by this energy, but knew it was there. Fortunatly I could leave it alone , and it pretty much left me alone. When people would stay over night I felt a little bad putting them in the room that I felt was a little ...you know ..haunted.I always got some pretty interesting feedback the next day . Of course i never told my guests ...I am putting you in the haunted room tonight ..sleep well

One morning my friend asked me who my roommate was that was up so late walking all over the house (hard wood floors).I didnt have a roommate. One time my boyfriends child slept in there , and well he screamed bloody murder all night. And another time again , I was asked who the other roommate was. Some other wierd things happend, that are a little too wierd to share with the non believers reading this. If you have had an expierence please tell all, facinating subject.

We have an indian chief, he just sits at the top of the stairs. I haven't seen him since I was a kid, but I know he's there. It's always cold there, he never does anyhting just sits and watches over us. My friends house has a old lady and a cat, they never did anything either. I always have this feeling that someone is watching me at certain times. My grandmother killed herself in our house, but I don't think it's her. I've never seen this ghost, just kow it's there.

Krissy I have had a couple of wierd experiences in my life too.... one as an older teen at a house in Southern CA- and yes, those were freaky enough with actually SEEING some things myself- plus the kitchen cabinets and the refrigerator opening and closing when nobody was in the kitchen, etc.... it was VERY bad at that house, and was NOT a nice 'person' lurking there at all. I wont mention all that happened here either, but KNOW what I saw and felt!!

Lived in another house for a while when I was married, that had a big walk in closet in the master bedroom. I always hated it and that area of the house always gave me the creeps. Didnt find out til years later as adults, that my daughter who was a young teen then, hated that room too, and she would toss the folded clothes from the doorway onto the bed to avoid even walking in there! It was freaky that we both had the same feeling about the same thing, but didnt know it til years later.

Driving on a one lane dirt road here one time, we were following some friends who were driving their vehicle ahead of us.... a very narrow dirt road that you had to go about 10 to 15 mph on. If there was anyone coming the other way, you had to pull off into any clear spot you could find off the road to let them pass- and you usually only had inches to barely pass. When we got to our destination, they said something about another friend passing them coming in the opposite way - who drove a big red car.. was pretty hard to miss. When we said he didnt pass us, we never saw him and asked where this happened.... we were shocked. They had to pull over to let him by, we never saw him- but their vehicle was never out of our sight up ahead of us, so it was not like we would have missed seeing them!!!

P.S. Just edited to add that a friend many years ago was looking for a mobile home to put on some property. While looking, the salesman took her into a nice repo on the lot that had only been used about six months. She barely made it in the front door and ran back out again. The salesman gave her a wierd look and she asked where he got the home from and asked him if someone had died in it .... turned out the owner had committed suicide in it... she told the salesman 'well, the owner is STILL THERE!' and refused to even look at it or try to go in again! She said she couldn't get away from it fast enough!

Living in a relatively rural area with a lot of old farm houses there are tons of stories about hauntings around here. I think people that are overly sensitive or that are not used to old creaky houses probably make more out of regular house noises than they should. I did live in a cabin on the river for a couple years where my friends and I always joked about the man that lived in the basement. There were saloon style doors at the top of the stairs, and every once in a while it would sound like someone was coming up the stairs, and then you'd hear those doors swinging. Of course if it was windy the house could be moving and causing the doors to swing at the same time...Right?

I did have one really frightening experience there, but it was during a bout of insomnia, so I'm sure I was a lot edgier (and a bit cuckoo) already. If you're interested in hauntings, you should watch the show Ghost Hunters. The two main guys are plumbers and do a lot of debunking, but every now and then they find something interesting. You can play their newest episodes free online: http://www.hulu.com/ghost-hunters

How could you possibly live with those things? If i saw anything like that i would OUT of there SO fast!

Our house is not haunted. My brothers wife use to babyset back in high school at a house in the next town over, she is not a superstitious person at all. This was all many many years ago, before i was born, but the family told her about the house and she said she did not believe them, anyway, but she baby sat for them and she said things would happen in that house that were just really really out there. She would close the babies door upstairs when she put him to bed and 20 minutes later when she would walk back upstairs the door would be wide open, same would happen with other doors in the house. Same with shades on the window. She said when she was anywhere upstairs she got really bad vibes. Things would fall over, but be far away like they were pushed. She said she would hear springs on the bed upstairs bouncing, like kids were jumping on the bed...the kids she babysat were newborn age so not them. She ended up leaving for college.

Stuff like that just scares me

I hate staying in Hotel rooms, i've seen the crime scene clean up crews on TV and they get allot of hotels ext...always kind of makes you wonder what happened there, i can never sleep good in hotels.

I would love to go on a investigation with the Ghost Hunters. I love that show they just amaze me........

Oh trust me Leanna, those things really dont bother me in hotels, its what could be all over the pillows and sheet, bleck, id rather sleep on the floor
default_wacko.png
I think im gonna do that next year when were at State Fair alot less scarier than sleeping in beds used by thousands of people

and the paranormal stuff really dosent bother me that much, but that shadowy guy, he scares me alot

There is one place in Texas that probably has the most spirit activity that I've ever experienced. It's a miniature horse ranch and of course the house dates back into the 1800's. I never felt threatened though. It was actually fascinating to experience!

Larry and I used to visit the place regularly during Larry's time transporting horses. The owner always welcomed us to stay over. At first I was just "aware" of spirit activity.....and then I would hear voices. Finally, I "saw" an older woman in dated clothing. Later, a neighbor and friend of the property owner was visiting and we were visiting about the place and the "hauntings". She went home and brought back a book that gave a history about the area. In it was a picture of the woman I had seen. The neighbor knew exactly what I was talking about and told me what she knew about the woman.

Some other stuff occurred too......but it's probably a little too weird for here.

Recently we had to put down our dear kitty Tooey. Tooey was put to rest in our living room. We didn't want to stress her out by taking her to the vet clinic. She was our bathroom kitty. If you went into the bathroom she would have to come in with you to visit. She was the dearest thing, a manx. Well I have seen her ghost several times go from my daughters room who Tooey dearly loved into the bathroom. Tooey was a black calico. What we all have seen is a dark shadow pass from the bathroom to Kristina's room or the other way around. We all feel good about her staying with us, we have missed her so much. I have been in the bathroom and felt her there with me several times. I believe!

A couple of years ago we had our BIG cat Sam put to sleep due to liver failure. Not long afterward I began 'seeing' him out of the corner of my eye, but the remarkable thing was when I was laying on my bed and feeling the weight of him jumping up on the bed. Of course I would immediately sit up and look to see him but there was never anyone there. This lasted for about 6 months after Sam was gone, then it didn't happen anymore. Made me miss him all over again.

Mary and Jayne.....

Seeing a loved one (whether two or four-legged) as you've described, isn't considered a "haunting"..... What you experienced is called an "ADC" (After Death Contact or Communication). It's usually a very positive thing, except when some are startled by it, of course.

Our house is 15 years old and l have the pantry from heck. When you lest expect it it will open itself and sometimes will even close itself if you wait long enough. This usually just happens in the spring and fall the reason was nothing spooky unless you wanted to make it into a spooky thing it just happens thats the times during the year when our slab we're built on shifts...now if the windows went flying open and shut for no good reason then l would be freaked and out of here till the reason why was found...l was lying in bed reading one night years back and felt something walk over my ankles...scared the poop out of me because the housedog was up sleeping by my book turns out it was a mouse and he got the thing after some screaming by me because l thought a ghost was in my room

Yes, I wouldn't say haunted but occupied. My husband and my first house gave off feelings. First, I need to say neither my husband or I talked about this until we were moving into our 2nd house. My husband said he was afraid of scareing me and I was afraid he'd think I was nuts. We also had this feeling we shouldn't talk about it. The scarey thing is we both explained our feelings about things almost the same way. It scared the h*** out of us because we knew something obviously HAD been going on. We both felt/saw a little girl with a sad face, longer hair, bare feet and a praire style dress on. She usually hung out upstairs by the fireplace stove pipe. We had a stove downstairs. She just watched us. Another scarey thing is my daughter was an infant and had her room upstairs. The thing is we never felt like she wanted to hurt us or our baby, just watch. We did feel she was angry when we first moved in, but grew to like us. We felt her sadness when we left. I saw her in my mind watching us leave out the front window. My husband and I truly believe this is true. The fact that we both felt and saw these things, neither discussed, and were in total agreement on what we thought when we did sealed the deal. We've often wondered what her story was.

My mother has a spirit we call George. We actually believe it's the spirit of my mom's great aunt and is attached to a vase that belonged to her. My mother is her namesake and inherited the vase. We first noticed activity about 30 years ago. It has run the gamut from changing the TV channel numbers (but not the picture & not always on the same TV), to footsteps, to loud banging upstairs. My mother has loved in tons of different houses but George goes where the bowl goes.

The best George story happened about 23 years ago. We lived in a 2 story apartment & my bedroom & my sister's were upstairs. The stairway was separated from the living room from a wall. My sister was home asleep & I was at a friend's. My mother had gone out with a friend & the friend's boyfriend. They all came back to our place & talked. My mom was talking about George & the boyfriend thought it was foolishness. My mom ended up falling asleep on the couch. The friend lived right around the corner & left to walk home. The boyfriend said he would finish his drink then leave. My mom woke up with this man on top of her. She of course was struggling to get him off when suddenly footsteps came flying down the stairs. My mom was like, great now you woke my daughter up. But no one ever came around the corner. The man got up to look up the stairs & there was no one there. He ran out the door so quick and my mom & her friend never heard from him again! I will always be grateful to George for that!!

wow .really great examples of occupied houses. Some scarry stories too, some just with other roommates. I dont feel so crazy about having or sharing my expierences. When i am open , I can sometimes feel or see people , mostly feeling them and what they look like. Barns are a great place to find them . I dont want to see them , and I am a big time scardy cat. I must have a lot of protection, because I felt a lot of people around me as a child. One was always in the bathroom , in the corner just watching ....didnt really care for this one . The hall creeped me out though, something lurked in the hall. As a child I was playing outside with family and friends, and ran in for a sweater . It was dusk , and when I turned to go down the hall something threw a bunch of clothes out my bedroom door. I will never forget that evening. I ran out and never went into the house alone at dusk again. Looking back ...yea our house growing up had a lot of bad energy, surprized i surrived that childhood...like i said i have a lot of guides helping me along the way. We have a hotel in the swiss alps now ....and in november when we are closed , and the town is deserted, the hotel creeps me out. Its a lot like the movie the Shinning with Jack Nicolson. there is a new floor that I wont go into if I am alone. I ask my chihuahua Kirby to come along if i need to go in when its colsed up and dark. If he wont go in I wont go in. Really cool stories though i enjoyed reading all of them Thanks

Neat thread!

I don't know what I'd call this or if it really even happened, but when I was in college I shared the first floor of a townhouse style home in South City St. Louis. It's an older area. Our home was all brick, tall ceilings, really neat workwork, cool architecture, etc. My roommate and I got two kittens. After getting the kittens some weird things happened. Maybe everyone who gets kittens has weird things happen
default_laugh.png
. But our back door had a deadbolt lock but on multiple occassions we'd find the door open and the cats would be outside. Once I was laying in bed with the bedroom door closed. My light was off but the light in the hall was on so I could see a sliver of light under the door. I heard some scampering out in the hallway and I cursed the kittens under my breath. Then I rolled over and BOTH kittens were in my bed and they were both staring alertly at the door! They'd heard it too!
default_new_shocked.gif
Then the last thing that happened is that I was standing in the hallway talking to my roommate who was in her bedroom. I was just standing in her doorway while we chatted. I thought I saw something out of the side of my eye but I looked and told myself it was nothing. Then my roommate said "what did you just see?" I didn't even realize I'd looked so spooked. I told her "well, I thought I saw an older lady, very tiny and thin, sort of bent over with a shawl over her shoulders." She looked like she came out of the wall and walked toward the bathroom. Then my roommate goes "OMG! I've seen her before too!"
default_unsure.png

We decided to call her Hunkered Down (since she was sort of bent over) and we also decided she didn't like cats and she was trying to get rid of them by opening the back door all the time.
default_laugh.png

I don't have any strong feelings one way or another but we sure had fun talking about Hunkered Down and her antics for years after that. I still think about "her."

Great stories guys. I haven't had any personal experiences but many, many years ago my mother was hemorrhaging and the Drs. had given up on her (this was before blood transfusions were routine), they closed the curtains around her bed and expected her to die. Until the day she died, 60 some years later) she swore that she saw her guardian angel standing beside her bed in that hospital room.

I'm a believer. IMO there are just some things that can't be "rationally" explained.

Anyone here ever watch Sylvia Brown on the Montel Show?
