Hi all,

I was just called by a fellow that is in need of help!!! His miniature appaloosa horse stallion was stolen from his field in Red Bluff, California last night. The neighbors reported noise/dogs barking to Mr. Jim Trainor, after he discovered his gate had been tampered with and his little horse was missing!

Description so far (working on photos… Jim doesn’t have email nor a digital camera, so all photos are currently in hard copy form:

30†tall

*Appaloosa* Stallion

Red Bluff, CA

Please contact me if you’ve possibly seen this horse:

This is such a terrible story to read about! Please......keep us informed as you find out more details!

I'm curious how often this type of thing happens, and what is the usual outcome? Do breeders ever microchip their minis? We microchipped all of our alpacas, which actually was on the way to being mandatory with the alpaca registry. I'm beginning to think I may have my minis done as well. Not that it would prevent theft, but may be helpful in proving identity if found.

OMG thats horrible. I sure hope he gets his stallion back and soon. Make sure this gets put on netposse. (www.netposse.com) Geri, yes, some breeders do microchip there horses. We dont hear of this happening too often in our area, but I do know this past summer someone who does live close to Shawano County, did call me, and asked me if I had any trouble, which I didnt..she did report that there was the 3 suspicious trucks and a trailer in her yard, but luckily her daughter was home and went outside. We also had a suspicious truck in Oconto-Marinette county, that we were keeping a good watch out for, but that was about 1 1/2 yrs ago. Nothing ever became of that, but we do have a good net work of friends (and some sheriff officers) who do keep a good watch, and we let each other know of anything suspicious in our area. Thats not saying it couldnt happen, but its kinda like a neighbor hood watch group, only a surrounding-area county "watch group". No one can ever be too careful! Corinne

I don't know for sure, but here's a story about what happened to "me" (well the people I sold my horse to):

in NOv. 1998, a beautiful blue-eyed bay appaloosa colt and his dam were stolen from their field near I-5 in Southern OR (near Roseburg). In April, 1999, in the Miniature Horse Journal, a certain farm local to that area ran an ad with a photo of that same colt (distinctive spotting and several confirmations from horsemen/vets agree, it's HIM) as an example of "their" sale horses.

Red Bluff, CA is close enough that I would suggest they contact or visit this farm's herds because they specialize in that coloring (appaloosa). If they haven't done anything "wrong" maybe someone is "recruiting" for them (trying not to be accusatory, just hoping we can find the little guy, I know it's a horrifyingly empty feeling to not know).

I will email her.

I am out here and passed this info on to all of my mini friends to keep their eyes open.

Did you list him on "net posse" it's a website for stolen horses

www.netposse.com

Good luck in finding him!

Bumping this up higher.......

Until a photo can be displayed, it may be good to know what kind of appy coloring the stallion has. Was it a leopard? Blanketed? Few Spot? Was it a black and white or Red or......?

Wishing the owner all the best.

There are also several other sites like Dreamhorse.com and others that have a page for missing horses.

You may even try a note on Pets911 ? We got our dog back that way.

Get as many notes out there as you can, and hopefully some pics will help. So sorry to hear about this happening!!

:new_shocked: Gosh! That is so sad. I hope the owners find him safe and sound.

Hope he's found safe and sound real soon as that is awful to have that happen. My heart goes out to his owner.
