I know I have seen home made ones..When I worked at that boarding Stable in Tempe, AZ. we had a home built one made from an old rear end out of a truck and that trucks 5 speed transmission.. All welded and mounted on a very heavy duty frame...
Oh, Lost Spoke,,,, I know where you are in AZ. I worked not too far from you guys for a few months in Elfrida on an Andalusian farm A-O-A. This was several years ago though like about 17 years ago, lol... And after just a few months on that horse farm I went back to Tempe and worked at a rather large boarding Stable right on the Mesa, Tempe, line..and worked at a electronic manufacture, Before moving back to Wisc.. I am also friends with some other people you know in Iowa The Wiks...(Weewik Farm) lol...Those are the people I moved out to AZ. with
I would suggest purchasing a full size horse walker. I had a miniature walker initially and found the arms dangerously low and the length awfully short. The horses walked in really small circles! I sold it and bought a full size horse walker. I've had it since 1997 and have been more than happy with it! I don't have to worry about those arms hitting me in the head!
I just sold my old walker - it was made as shminifancier described. I guess you either love them or you hate them, I"ve never been a big fan of walkers. I always seemed to have one who would dig his heels in and stop the whole thing.
Becky, do you just have long ties to the arms? My little guys always used that to drift to the inside and cheat on the circle, and ended up making a small circle anyway.
On your IgG question - are you asking how long the test results are good for or how long a test kit lasts? Results give you a reading on what baby as acquired from mom at that point in time. I've never repeated a test, but I suppose if you do the IgG early that you might get a different result say 12 hours later if the foal latches on and starts nursing aggressively. No expert here - I probably digressed
Thank you all so much for your informative considerations regarding a mini hot walker. Because of your advise we be looking into a full sized horse walker instead. Didn't even think about bumping the ol noggin!
Regarding my IgG question. I was wondering how long the formula last, like Seramune etc.? Is it stored in the fridge or is it left at room temp? Sorry for being vague.
