Like the topic says, are the horses that were taking cinnamon still doing well?

Thinking of starting Bailey on it. I'd love to see before and after pics and hear your stories.

I'd love to see/hear some results too. I had Kitty on it for a couple of weeks then stopped it until closer to spring - so she could be clipped and I could see what was happening. But I honestly think I can see some difference even in her winter woolies.

We had a horse on it for 6 or 8 weeks back in the late summer and didn't see any weight loss at all. So, quit using it. That same horse is now on Remission and we do see a definite improvement!

I'm using a combo of remission and cinnamon, I am very happy with the results. My horse is better with both, I tried both by themselves before putting them together. My mare looks the best she has in 6 years.

I've had my 5-year-old gelding on cinnamon (1 tsp twice a day in feed) since the topic started up - last October, was it? And I have seen much improvement without any feed changes. A couple of folks who don't see him day to day have agreed with me (so it's not just in my head, LOL): His neck is much thinner and softer, his back end no longer looks like a beach ball, you can feel his ribs without digging in to his side, and his belly looks more tucked.

I tried taking a picture but it's hard to see the difference with all that HAIR, so I'll take a picture after I clip him and hopefully we'll really see the difference. When I took pictures last spring, his body was sausage shaped - no "indents" at the girth line or flank... Now he has more of a horse shape, and doesn't feel "hard" everywhere (silly me, I had thought that was muscle).

I'm looking forward to seeing others' reports, and I have to say it's really been a big help to see others' photos of horses, before, after, and the ones that are just in really good shape - helps me to have a better eye when I critique my beasties.

Come on, Spring!

My two problem mares, Jasmine and Ariel are coming out of winter much much slimmer. I haven't changed their food intake at all but they have slimmed and they both have very pretty necks. I can't wait until I'm able to work them this year as I believe they will both look awesome. Just that 1 little tsp of Cinnamon a day has done amazing things with these girls and I can see a huge difference even thru their winter woolies. It is supposed to be really nice today so will see if my daughter will help me get a couple pics of them so I can post them.

I started mine several months ago on 1tsp a day. None of them were obese but a little pudgy in areas. Like Drivntime, there is a noticeable difference to the overall shape. Hard to describe. It's not like tons of weight fell off but the neck has thinned, rump toned down and belly tightened up. Even with woolies, there is not that bloated tubby look.

Guess I better start my 7 month filly today. Shes so little, she looks like a walking fur beachball. Ha!

Not many things I would recommened to others but I would this.

I just started my guy on cinnamon yesterday - 1/2 tsp a.m. and 1/2 tsp p.m. with his grain. Hope it works!

I'll try and keep everyone updated and, hopefully, with pics! Anyone else have any luck lately with the cinnamon?

Karen, I doing the same with Jay. He's been on Remission for a couple months now and I have seen an improvement in his neck. We just started the cinnamon, so I'm not expecting much right now. Maybe when we clip him.

I bought Remission. Are the remission horses on one small end of the spoon a day? And how much cinnamon?
Thanks!

Joyce
Joyce, I give Jay one small end of the spoon once a day and a tsp of cinnamon once a day. Seems to be working so far. I'll know more in a couple weeks, once he's been clipped. Still too cold for that here.

Has anyone feeding cinnamon noticed their horses drinking more? My horses will stop part way through their grain to get a drink....almost like it either makes them thisty or they're trying to get the taste out of their mouth. Anyone else??

You have sparked my interest. Almost all of our show horses are on Remission. Now I am going to start trying the cinnamon on one gelding who never really gets rid of the pudgy look.

I have noticed that Jay will take a couple bites then move to something else, either his water or hay, then he goes back to his feed. It is a strong flavored spice so maybe it is the taste. I'm glad that he's slowed down his eating. He used to gobble everything up so fast, now he takes his time, but he does eat everything.

I had my Giddy on it and he did slim down a couple inches around the belly.. I stopped giving it to him when it started getting cold this winter, I didnt want him to be too thin. I will see how he looks after his fuzzies come off.

If needed I will use again-worked for us...

It is really helping mine... specially my Icelandic. Normally she is fat no matter what I do... now she is perfect weight! Think I am going to have to figure how to eat a bit of cinnamon every day too.

Mine are still looking slim and trim this year. As for humans my daughter bought a bottle of cinnamon capsules at Walmart very inexpensive. She is diagnosed as insulin resistant. We will see how they work on her. I spoke with a lady who had taken the capsules and said she lost weight just by taking the capsules then went off and now is going back on because she started putting the weight back on.

At my house we have determined cinnamon rolls won't help anyone.

? - why do some of you feel you need to feed cinnamon if you are feeding the remission? Just curious.
