I havent heard about faith lately.. how is she?

The mare we rescued at the sale is running into some trouble.. She's up to 3 cups feed and 3 cups beet pulp 2x a day.. today she had a severe running nose... I called the vet, he said to put her on antibotics for 3 to 4 days and see if it clears up... if not then we are looking at something other than a cold. This weather here has been so horrible.. wet, cold, and did i say wet? Its been in the 30's during the day.. then yesterday it went to 60 something.. then today.. BAM runny nose. Please keep us in your prayers!!

 I am sorry your mare is not feeling well. We hope see gets well soon.

keep us posted,

melissa

With this ice storm, I hadn't been able to post new pictures of Faith in a couple of weeks. Here's some that I took on Sunday. She was a little nervous here because of a plastic bag hanging in a tree.

She's doing really well, but she's lonely. With all of the ice and stuff, I hadn't been able to spend much time with her and I wasn't letting the kids go down there because of all the trees between the house and her. It's supposed to warm up quite a bit today, so I should be able to get down there and have a grooming party with her. I need to look into getting her some toys because I think she's bored, any suggestions?

Hrselady, I'll be keeping your mare in my prayers. I'm so thankful that Faith hasn't run into any problems like that.

Am empty milk jug with a couple stones inside that will rattle, an old stuffed animal, a flat ball she can pick up and toss, a round ball she can kick around, frozen bowls of water in a cool whip bowl with fruit frozrn inside, pretty much any safe child's toy will work if it won't break or splinter. Mine loves the stuffed animals wet muddy frozen they'd pick em up and toss their heads around spraying yuk everywhere but lovin it! Mine also like empty pop bottles no tops of course. She'll be better now that the bag monster is gone.

She looks so good!! And even her eyes and ears have taken a new look of "YES there is life".. I am so happy for you and her!! Keep up the good work!

I never would have thought of stuffed animals for the horses, I may have to try that (next time I get the chance to pick up a stuffed animal at a garage sale or really cheap on sale). I may have to offer them a couple of the bigger dog toys and see what they think.

I use well-rinsed laundry soap jugs with the lids removed (they always seem to get the lid off anyway, so may as well remove it); I just toss them out into their paddock.

She sure looks better. :aktion033: My horses love balls and any form of plastic bottle - without the caps (I tried giving them a bottle with stones in it - they got the tops off, so now, no caps.

Good luck with her and keep the pictures coming.
