My "do it all" horse is OMP Pizazzs Yessiree Bob, aka Bob. I've owned him since he was a yearling, and he's now 10 years old. He was our first mini.

Bob excels at:

Showmanship

Country Pleasure (He was 6th in his only trip to AMHA World, which was in 2008)

Hunter

Halter Obstacle

Obstacle Driving

Day and nighttime parades

Great with kids

Willing to try anything I ask him to

Bob shows every couple of years at our local shows, as I put him on the back burner when I need to show a breeding prospect. We plan to bring him back out next year, though!!

Pleasure Driving (National Champion and Hall of Fame)

Roadster (National Top Five and Hall of Fame)

Versatility (National Champion)

Jumping (National Top Ten and Hall of Fame)

Hunter (National Top Ten and Hall of Fame)

Liberty (Reserve National Champion and should have had her Hall of Fame but the office lost all her points)

Superior Dam Hall of Fame (though I noticed they haven't put her in the Journal, she has her plaque and earned it)

And AMHR Performance Horse of the Year, Under, in 2001 (and she was pregnant that year!)

AMayZing has also had several beautiful foals for us, along with excelling in the show ring. Yep, she does it all!

Magic, that IS AMAZING!!!

Lightening is a special horse who can do it all.

In addition to the national wins in my signature (i only listed national grand and reserve wins), he has national top tens in liberty, roadster, jumper, versatility, and obstacle.

He has won in open, ammy, and youth.

He is now driving tandem, too.

That horse for me is "Utopias American Banner"

I just got him in December but he was shown pinto before and for 2008 was

the Miniature Pinto horse of the year! Driving will be the only new thing for him this year (and me also).

But this guy (aka Chico, 7yr.old gelding) is just WOW! I will do all the classes with him... (10 or 11 classes!

I just LOVE this horse!!

I have never tried to do it all with one of my horses. Just do not have the time. But.............. I decided to sell one of my stallions and started to condition him for the show ring so that people could see he is still the pretty boy in the pictures.

I had broke him to drive last year, but did not do much follow up on it. Well, I was exercsiing him on the Gator (like a golf cart) and was reminded how well he moved. So, I decided to start driving him again. Then I tried jumping him, yup, he could do that too. He is such a sweet boy (besides being pretty)and so easy to work with. He may be a stallion, but he acts like a gelding. Even when breeding the mares he is just so sweet. Sometimes I have second thoughts about selling him. (then I remember that I want to reduce my herd by 1/2. So hard to do when you want to keep them all.)

I've had a few...

Sooner States Melody, one of my first two mare purchases. Got her for a broodmare, but chose her to be the first mini I trained to drive, then for other events, between foals! We've been together for 24 years this year--she has produced several top quality foals(Multiple National Top Ten/Winner Jess Rocky Rabbit, who now belongs to the immediate past president of AMHA, Mike Want, is one; my own two geldings by Landrys Cowboy Del, a LOVELY black mare named Jess Poppis Music who is an extraordinary ADS-style driving mare, in pair and single, to name only part of them)...she also excelled in Driving, Obstacle, In-hand and Driven, Hunter, and even Showmanship(when she was in her late teens(!),I loaned her to a local youth who tragically lost his horse to untimely death several years ago-- he worked her in Showmanship, something I'd not done with her, won All-Around Youth at our State Fair AMHA show that year!) I quit breeding her after my two Cowboy Del colts--the last is 13 years old--Cowboy was no longer available;he'd moved to Oregon....
default_sad.png
--, and I had nothing of my own, nor in this area, I felt was a good cross for her, so I let her retire from breeding. She is still hale and hearty!

Torreyanas Kima Saby, my first show gelding. Bought him at 8 months of age, trained and made him an AMHA Champion; despite the fact that he was NOT your usual 'laid back' mini, he excelled in Hunter, Jumper, both Obstacles(sometimes; he was a spook!), Roadster, Driving, Showmanship. Now 23, last year I gave him to a wonderful driving instructor in MS (NOT a 'mini' trainer, but a lifetime horsewoman who had just the right job for him!)

And, the love of my life, the horse in my avatar, Jess Cowboys Top Hand! One of Melody's sons, I bred, raised, trained him entirely...he is also an AMHA Champion. He 'didn't do' Roadster(I have his brother for that, however!), nor Jumper, but excels in EVERYTHING else, including being the most loveable character EVER! He is the one I can take to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING...yet when he is 'jazzed', he does 'airs above the ground', all on his own! I keep thinking I might try training him to 'dance' with me!!

All these horses are excellent movers; I have never entered ANYTHING in Liberty, because I never had entry money to spend on what I consider a somewhat pointless class(no insult meant, just my personal 'take' on it....), but all three, plus Handy's full brother, might well have done well there also. I REALLY LIKE well-trained, versatile, athletic, 'all-around', horses...did with my 'bigs', do with minis!!

(AMHA Championships require a certain no. of points in Color, Halter, various categories of performance....it's all in the rulebook.)

We have one that can do it all. LDS Midnight Princess, my daughter's mare.

We bought Princess as a yearling who had never been touched. Two years later my daughter (then 9) had her ready to hook to a cart. Trained her entirely by herself.

Princess was a multi champion driving horse, including (then) District II Grand Champion driving, Reserve Champion jumping. She also had many wins in halter obstacle, driving obstacle, youth, ammy, open driving and jumping. Also did parades, school visits, and nursing home. She's the horse we put little kids on when they want to sit on a horse, or to take someone terrified of horses on a cart ride.

Her first foal turned out to be a champion halter mare.

Ours is Longview Acres Midnight Babe 16 years old
