Forgot to update last night, coco went from testing 8.1 and a brix of 21 at 11:45 am yesterday morning, to testing <6.3 and brix of 35+ at 7 pm last night. She foaled at 8:30 this morning. Huge bay colt with a small star. It was a red bag delivery but thankfully we got him out in time and he is doing well. Cocoa is a bit sore, which considering she just delivered a colt larger than Izzy’s 2 week old colt, is no surprise, but she is also doing well.

Good job mama! And wow he's a big boy! Glad both are doing well. Congratulations!

Well Gypsy is 309 days. Not much in the udder department. But she’s starting to get soft over the rump. I decided just to see if she had milk and she does, and it’s very easy to get, it’s sticky, and ph is not sky high. So she may not go as long as I originally thought. She’s under cam, but not in one of the foaling stalls. She’ll move their this weekend unless she decides to crazy.

So glad you were successful with the red bag delivery!!! Lucky foal. I hope she's feeling better now. Both my maidens last year were pretty hurting units after delivering their colts. A dose of flunixin and they were feeling normal in short order. A little help goes a long way. Fingers crossed Gypsy's remainder of her pregnancy and delivery go smoothly and uneventfully!

For sure! I give banamine usually before the mare even stands up lol. This was a perfect case of why I watch them so closely and test even though many say there is no need. She went from not ready, to foaling in 18 hrs. It was a massive foal AND a red bag. No way she would have pushed him out in time by herself. Without help, best case scenario would be a dummy foal. Literally she went from small udder and sky high ph to mediocre udder and foaling ph in 6 hrs. Ph was like the only sign. Now when I did the late check (because of the ph) her udder was much better. But just shows how easy it is to miss.

Any updates on Gypsy and Reds progress or did I miss another thread?
How are Izzy and Coco's baby? I just saw you had a red bag with coco!

Gypsy is really starting to make progress now. Udder is growing but has a way to go. Brix is already high at 17 and ph is teetering on the brink of dropping. She is 311 days and a maiden so she will be interesting.

Rythem hit 280 today. She has had a bit of edema in front of her udder the last few days but I’m begging her to hold out a bit before she thinks about starting an udder LOL.

Legend is doing amazing and really making me think about keeping him as a replacement for his sire one day. Cocoas colt is FINALLY coming out of his shell some and realizing we are not the boogey monster after all.

Gypsy has made really good progress in the udder department. Ph is still high. I think she probably has some time left but I’m very pleased with her progress and with her being a maiden I don’t trust her to stick to the rules LOL!

I ordered some PH strips with hopes I can start expressing milk. How are you able to express your Gypsy?

More progress! Still testing high so we continue to wait. Since she’s now 315 and making so much progress we are keeping her in the run that is under camera as a precaution. She’s really hit that miserable stage.
