My grandfather is not going to make it. His pulse is 88/39. He has brown gunk coming out of the breathing tube. His kidneys have not beed working for 3 days now. We (My dad, brother and I) will be making a decission about him today. If there is no change, we will have them stop the blood preasure meds (That don't seem to be doing much any way) and let him go that way. We just can't stand the thought of stoping the ventelator and haivng him sufficate instead. This is so terrible and hard. I hate it.

I don't know exactly when I will be coming home be we are suposed to come home on wed. David might go thgen, but Loren and I will most likley stay longer.

I'm sorry to read of his and your troubles, as letting go can't ever be easy. I think it is obvious that he is cherished and loved, and knows this.

Please know that my thoughts are with you in this difficult time.

My sympathies about your grand-dad. I know it's not easy for you as his family. Just be with him and let him know you love him. God and the angels will show him the way...

Oh, I am so sorry! That is a terrible situation to be in, no one should have to watch someone they love go through that and have to make such tough desicions! I am keeping you and your grandfather in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong.

Thank you everyone.

My grandfather Loren passed away at 2:00pm today. My father, brother and I along with the doctor talked about taking him off of life support. They did this while my brother Jim stood by next to Grandpa. I went out into the lobby with my father. My father could not handle being in the room. They said it could take up to 2 or 3 days for him to die. We did not have to wait that long. 30 minutes after the respirator was removed, I went into the room with my brother. Only minutes after I got there his heart stopped and a few minutes after that he stopped breathing. His eyes were closed and he was sleeping. They had a morphine drip going so he felt no pain. The 3 of us are glad he is in a better place but he will be greatly missed.

David, little Loren and I will be here until Monday. We rescheduled our return flight. The rest of the family and his friends will be here this weekend for a simple wake.

Thanks again for your thoughts.

Shellie, please know my thoughts & prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.

Having just lost my Mom just almost 4 weeks ago, it's a pain I would never wish upon anyone. I know death is a part of life, but it is just so gut wrenching and so hard to go through and watch.

It sounds like your Grandfather was very much loved and I am sure he knows that as well, my heart is going out to you.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
