I have never wanted to smoke again after I quit, so I think I'm going to be fine!

5 whole years! I thought I'd never be able to quit, let alone go 5 yrs! I'm so proud of myself!

Thanks for letting me share!

I too, am a "recovering smoker". I started when I was just a young teen...I quit once for three years, started up again, then quit again about ten years ago, and have remained smoke-free...so far...knock on wood.

My biggest peave since quitting? Those "quitters" who have that "Holier than thou" attitude against those who still smoke. How soon they forget how desperate an ADDICTION smoking is. I find there is so much sympathy for other addictions, while smoking is still, by most...considered "just a filthy "habit"". My Mom and Dad have been smoke-free for 15 years now...and my Mom still says "She is one ciggie away from a pack a day".

Let's give a pat on the back to all of the non-smoking smokers.

I did read just the other day that people that use nicotine patches and gum together have the best success at quitting and staying that way.

How did you do it?

Congrats!!! I quit when I turned 25,i'm 36 now. I remember telling my husband that the money i'd save would esily take care of another [big] horse. He said if I quit I could get one and i did. it was a good motivator.

What a wonderful accomplishment! Are you going to go out and celebrate your 5th Year Anniversary???

Kudos to everyone who beats their addictions! And good luck to everyone on their New Year's resolutions.

What a great accomplishment - congratulations on your success!

We are all smokers at White Tails - hard to quit when everyone around you keeps puffing away. But then, we'd likely all kill eachother if we all tried to quit the same time. LOL

You've done a great thing! Good for you!
