Hi all,

I have been lurking on the forum for a couple of months now and thought it was about time to say hi to everyone.

I just bought my first mini (first horse actually) at the end of July this year and have been trying to learn as much as possible. Thankfully I am keeping Oliver with a wonderful woman who has had horses for 60 years and who's horses always seem happy, and that I've know all my life. Hopefully in October we will be bringing him home, but I wanted at least the first couple of months to have someone else there looking after him while I learned. I have a lot of book learning when it comes to horses but not a lot of recent hands on experience so feel way more comfortable having a back up. I am so grateful for all the information all the people on this forum have posted. It has helped me gain the confidence I need in order to be ready to bring him home. I love knowing that there is a tight community of people who all love little equines that I can come to for help.

I wish every new horse owner was like you, learning all they can about caring for them. Having a mentor is great!

Welcome from Oklahoma! So glad you have someone you know and trust locally to guide you. There is a wealth of information on here, but still helps to have someone who can "see" first hand when you need help. Good luck to you.

Welcome from Arizona!!! Enjoy the forum- you will find loads of info here, along with lots of laughs, and sometimes some tears.

Minis are wonderful little guys and so smart. That was a good idea to start off with someone who knows horses and can help you get started! I bet you will be excited to get your little Mini home too though.

Thank you all for your kind words and welcome.

REO-info on worming is actually what led me to L'il Beginnings. Google sent me to the huge topic on Quest and it really opened my eyes on how much I could learn here.

You've already proven what a good owner you'll be...first by having someone who knows horses take care of him while you're learning, and second, by finding Lil Beginnings!!

I have wanted a horse since I was old enough to know what one was. Everytime I thinkabout himI get a little shot of excitment running through me.

I thought it would die down a bit after a couple of weeks, but it's been 6 weeks and it hasn't dulled at all.
