Please welcome MYSTERYS FOXIE LADY..a SLIGO SPOTTED HORSE Granddaughter..,,now that she has shed out..what would you call her coloring/pattern? I wish I had a foal picture of her, that would clear up a lot...was she born this color or varnished out...but I don't..unless someone knows the Arnetts in West Texas. Thank you for looking!

If she were Near Leopard you would not be able to see the varnish, think about it for a minute.

A Near Leopard looks like a Leopard but has retained colour on the head and legs....this mare has that but not sign of varnish on her head or legs, so.....???

She started off, I would lay money, as an extended Blanket, then "marbled" in front (you can see the remains of the marbling still).

She may or may not go Near Leopard, at the moment she is a mixture of patterns.

I agree she is a pretty girl!

thank you for all your input and kind words...I really like her too! But was a bit confused on her actual pattern...this helps a lot :0)

I agree with Lucky C at this point..... any baby pics of her would help clarify a couple of things. Congrats on your new spotted girl!

Pretty girl!! But, as Rabbit points out, she'll probably change even more.

Gotta love those appys -- they keep you guessing.

Added: yep, I realize you just want to "know", especially for producing foal colors, but -- just couldn't resist

She's a very pretty mare! And she definately has the 'varnish' going on! It would be nice to see a picture of her as a foal.

How do you access a horse is varnish vs being born that color? Especially without a foal picture..just curious.

my stallion is a varnish and shows a big blanket in the winter..he was born a solid bay and changed to what he is now....I always thought varnish left color on the bony points of a horse...this is sure a learning experience especially with appys
