Which ones do you think are the best? I have Roger on one right now, but not sure its the best, and I want to make sure he has the best.

You can't beat Platinum Performance's joint supplements, although they are pretty expensive and because they are made with "good stuff" they taste bad! It takes horses a while to get used to the terrible taste (I tasted it myself, blech!)

At any rate, have seen many horses on the "Ortho-Chon" supplement and it has had fantastic results for high performance animals with joint issues.

However, if it is not for a performance horse, a cheaper supplement may get the results you are looking for?

Andrea

We tried about 6 different joint supplements - some very expensive also. Was not pleased with any of them. I received some info from Platinum that sounds impressive but so did the rest. Our horse would not eat anything that tasted the least bit bad. Unfortunately it is trial & error for each horse.. I hope you find one that gives you the results you are looking for.

Years ago I had a X barrel racing horse and the gal I bought her from had her on "Fluid Action" by Finish Line, cause she had cartliage damage and swore by it and she was a barrel racer and said all her barrel racer friends used it. So I contiued to use it and she was fine on it. I thought I'd go with something cheaper for awhile and it was awful, she got all crippled up and could hardly walk, got all stiff legged. Put her back on the Fluid Action and she was fine after a couple of weeks. So I swear by the stuff too, it made a believer out of me. If I ever have a horse that needs it again, I'd buy it for sure w/o giving it a 2nd thought. Good luck to you, TJ P.S. At www.smartpakequine.com it's 24.95 a bottle for 32 days and that's what I used was the liquid and my horse ate it w/ no problems. In fact every once in awhile they had a promotion if you called the company they'd give you a bottle to try for $7.95 to handle shipping and it was the 32 oz size. SO if you want to try it, go on line and look up there # and call them and see if they still have it and give it a try. It's worth trying for $ the handle vs paying all that money to find out the different ones your horse doesn't like. PLUS, if this is for a mini you'll get MORE out of it cause that is a HORSE dosage. YA HOO!!!!! Another good reason to own a wonderful mini.

I've been using Corta-Flx pellets for my senior half-Arab gelding and since he's semi-retired it has kept him comfortable for daily life. However, recently I decided to try the Absorbine Flex+, again, they have come out with a pelleted form (he will not eat the powders, he just snorts into his dish and blows them all over the place, so I stick with the pelleted products). I ordered from KV Vet supply, they had a buy one month supply, get one free special; just ordered last week. Can't wait to see how he does on the new to him product.

Edited: I just checked my order, it was Country Supply that I ordered from, I was looking at something else on KV Vet (couldn't come up with a full order, so haven't ordered the one little thing from them yet).

Its not a mini so I dont save there. I did start him on one until I could find out the best choice. HEre is what I have him on now.....

Nutri-Vet MSM It looks like white crystals, he eats it without a problem, but its mixed with grain and beat pulp. He gets 2 scoops a day for now and its 8,000 mg a scoop. Back says its 99.% pure methylsulfonylmethane

What you have him on is fine for the pain/antinflammitory agent, which Yucca is also, but you need him on is some glucosamine hcl to help rebuild the cartilage. IMO. TJ Some people also use Chondroitin with the glucosamine. I started to post this and then I just read this:

MSM: SOURCE OF SULFUR FOR BUILDING AND REPAIRING CARTILAGE, HELPS CONTROL PAIN AND INFLAMMATION.

GLUCOSAMINE: STIMULATES PRODUCTION OF CHONDROITION SULFATE; INHIBIT FREE RADICALS AND ENZYMES THAT BREAK DOWN CARTILAGE.

CHONDROITION SULFATE: STIMULATES PRODUCTION OF HYALURONIC ACID AND PROTEOGLYCANS; ALSO INHIBITS ENZYMES THAT BREAK DOWN CARTILAGE.

Don't know if that helps or if you already have this information but thought I'd put it out there for you and see if it's any added help to you. I thought it was interesting, seems like they ALL work together. TJ
