My grandson is competing in the Fencing Junior Olympics in Portland, OR this weekend. His first match is tomorrow. I think we can see it with streaming; looks like a MareStare type of setup. He is competing in Men's Foil, age 14- 17. He is only 14 so he will have some stiff competition, and against young men with more tournament experience. There are 198 fencers in his class. He said his goal it to make it into the top 50.
I admire his parents for the effort they are making to help him with this athletic adventure!
They have 6 children and are home schoolers.
(A couple of years ago his mom was laughing that she could not sword fight with him with Star Wars plastic light sabers, as he was too skillful.)
They are sight seeing today, going to the ocean and to sporting goods stores. His two younger sisters got to go along with dad and him.
