Hi all

I have had a couple of complaints lately that CMHR doesnt work fast enough etc.

Absolutely when a horse is in trouble WE WORK FAST. No doubt about that!! we have received calls for help and removed horses immediately. Horses in trouble are of the highest priority and I know some who have been on the forum from the start know that we can move a horse out of trouble ASAP. A horse in trouble takes precedence over anything else. I have been at shows and on the cell phone getting transport for a horse that has to be moved asap. So please know that even though I show horses that does not take priority over a horse in trouble.

But if its an issue of helping to place a horse and not taking it into CMHR it can take longer. If people just want us to assist in finding a home for a horse we are very happy to do it and would rather do that then place the horse in rescue custody. But that does take time!! Normally the biggest hang up is I have trouble getting people to send pictures. Without pictures its very hard for me to find a home for a horse. Most people want to at least see what the horse looks like before they commit to home it. Once I get pictures i have to email them around and see what replies I get. that also takes time.

Another thing to keep in mind is myself and the other volunteers are also running farms while trying to do rescue work. Right now is foaling season so its very hard. I also show horses and anyone who does that knows how time consuming that is

Please keep in mind that we are just regular women trying to raise families, run rescue, foal out mares, show etc. I myself still have young children at home so it gets very hectic trying to balance everything.

We are very low on volunteers right now and really running bare bones. We welcome anyone who can to volunteer and help make this rescue better.

The ones that are complaining need to volunteer to help speed things up. It is easy to criticize but not so easy to step forward and volunteer to ease the burden.

I know exactly what you are talking about. When I was the ONLY equine person handling all of the cruelty and neglect complaints in our county as well as working 50-60 hours a week, I had people saying I wasn't fast enough but I guarantee that if the complaint needed handled immediately, I was taking off work and taking care of it. Sometimes it was an animal that was fine but had been ill or had just been purchased and had not had time to get better.

I still work a lot of hours but if something comes up in my area and I can help, just let me know and I will do whatever I have to in order to help.

I am personally very thankful for CMHR and the work that you all do. Anyone that has not done rescues has no idea what is involved in order to protect not only the animal but yourself and the organization too.

Some things just take time. I know that you can move quickly if an animal is in danger or need immediate attention, you have proven that.

I want to say THANK YOU for the great work you and the volunteers and anyone who ever has rescued an animal....horse, dog, cat etc. has done as well as the people that get the laws passed to help protect the animals .....again Thanks! :aktion033:

thanks so much for understanding!!!

And I do want to point out that I ALWAYS want people to let me know if they think we arent doing something right!! So please know this isnt because im upset etc. And always feel free to call me or email me if you have questions.

I think sometimes people think running rescue is all myself and my fellow board members do and maybe forget that we also have our families, our own horses etc. Some rescues are run by people that only do rescue work so I can understand where people get that impression. Most of our CMHR also have full time demanding jobs outside of their farms so dont even ask me how they do it!! Especially our Ginny St Pierre. She works so hard at her outside job and running her farm that Im beginning to think she never sleeps
