Kay is right. Leo is definitely a charmer! But more importantly, Leo is going to remain with me so that he can receive the consistent, ongoing care he needs from the professionals who have embarked on a mission to bring him to optimal health. I felt this was in his best interest rather than moving him around and having to begin all over again with a new group of health providers. I have an excellent farrier who is well-versed in dwarf hoof issues, a caring local veterinarian who, despite a warning kick by Leo on his first visit, assured me that he would love to continue working with the little fellow, and most importantly a high tech equine hospital with a dental specialist who has taken a particular interest in Leo's unique and problematic bite. Most dwarves do have some jaw and teeth deformity, but Leo's is extraordinary. So much so that the certified dentist who has begun working on him is going to establish Leo as a case study for other dental professionals and chronicle the work being done on him over an extended period of time. Special custom instruments are being developed and crafted specifically for Leo's care and the dentist is graciously donating a good deal of the cost of services. With offers like these, it became clear that Leo was destined to stay here in Brooksville, close to the professionals who are so willing to take up the challenge of his care. I will be keeping everyone posted on his progress from time to time, so you'll definitely hear more about him!!!
