Has anyone tried the new Likit brand horse toys? If you have, do you like them? I purchased 2 of them, one for each of our minis. The temperature was below zero here, and they were staying in their stalls all day, they had the option to go outside, but wind chill was nasty. So I thought they would like a boredom toy till this weather let up. I hung a Likit in each stall exactly like the directions said. One mini was not interested, but the other one could actually bite chunks off, I put it higher, but then he bit around the bottom of the plastic spool. He DID NOT lick-it! He bit it! If I put it up higher he cannot get to it at all. I am worried to much of this stuff will make him sick. Does anyone have any experience with this product? Thanks !

I use them on a regular basis with my mini. He LOVES them. I find that its harder for them to bite chunks off if the LikIt is hanging away from any wall. It makes it so they have to lick them since it will swing. Since my mini lost his barn mate I give him one about once a month to keep him busy. As long as he can't pin it up against a wall it will last much longer. Do be warned, when it's hanging in the middle of the stall and it spins it will cover their heads with likit. It does wash out, but it drys hard on their fur expecially in the winter time. But I have used it with good results, keeps him from eating stuff he shouldn't (and he will try anything). And it's not that bad if you eat a little bit as well. I had to try it since the horse liked it so much :bgrin (I am VERY weird)

Love 'em. Some horses are more into them than others....some prefer other flavours. They are best if hung in the middle of the stall so they cannot brace them against a wall to bite chunks off of.... Ive never had anyone seem sick from them though, even when then consume half, or more, in one "sitting"... if they are going at it like crazy, I will usually only let them have at it for an hour or so, and then hang it up until the next day.

My Mini's LOVE their likits! It's best to hang them in the middle of the stall so they can't brace it up against the walls. All of our Mini's like all the flavors, but each one has their favorite. My 2 year old filly is Likit obsessed....she knows exactly what the wrapping on a new Likit refil sounds like and if she hears it or see's the refil, so goes nuts until you give it to her. The only drawback of them is if they lick them and then rub up against it, you get a very sticky Mini

My filly ended up eating a while Likit in one sitting....I didn't realize she could brace it up against her wall and she ate the whole thing. Didn't make her sick and she didn't act like she didn't feel good, etc. But, now it's where she can't brace it and boy does that make her mad

I haven't tried them but I've read about them and heard nothing but good things, and lots of it.

we've tried them several times but to no avail. no matter how or where we hang them, they somehow manage to eat the whole thing in a day or two... or break the holder! we couldn't even find all the pieces of the last one. so i gave up.

I hung one in Kody's stall last year and of course, since it was MEANT to be a toy he ignored it! It took him months and then one day I came out there and it had been licked a little, then the next day it was gone. Ever since then he has been an official Lik-It fiend like the others. He'll bite chunks off quite happily and when it's all gone he picks it up and carries the spool around like a dog with a barbell toy.

I need to rig something at shows to keep it away from the walls- he ate the whole thing the first night at Happ's because I had to hang it from the door. No ill effects except perhaps a slight case of ADD the next morning.

My big guy is like Nicole's Molly and thinks it smells good but just can't quite figure it out. I guess his previous owners did too good a job teaching him to leave alone things they hung in his stall! Once it's on the wall it's part of the landscape and he ignores it.

My horsses love them although I don't give them to the horses too often as to me they are more like a treat. I hang it nowhere near any walls to but they now work as a team...one pushes it against the others nose while the other takes chunks out of it then they swap. It's quite clever and funny to watch! hehe

Ours do the same as above and find out all kinds of ways to get a chunk out of them if they can. It really does help some on the boredom for one that is stalled. I love them and order them 6 or 7 at a time.

Yep I order them as well, 11 at a time for the show horses, as they all get a new one together, and then keep to keep them for as long as they allow it, until I order the next batch, usually give them a new one every month. I do hang mine from the rafters directly in the middle of the stall, so "most" of mine last for at least a week or two, but I have one little mare, Angel Eyes, who loved them so dearly she had her own technique and even with no way of bitting it hers would be gone in a day or two max, she would tilt her head sideways and stand there and lick it without pushing it away (as most of them get to greeding trying to bit it, with it hanging in the middle of the stall and in return it just gets pushed away)

Only problem I have had with them is buying them in July-August when it is SO HOT and HUMID, and they aren't nearly as hard, the likit falls apart easier so they all have theres gone in just a matter of a couple of days.

Bud didn't realize it was called a "Likit" he thought it was called a "Gorfit" so he gorfed all the edible parts and then some of the plastic parts too so it no longer had an eye to hang it by. Gotta love those greedy little geldings! I don't think it was in there for a full day. So much for that great idea. Little Piggy!

We've tried them too  very intertaining to watch too lol. I have to say I've tried it and it tastes like PEZ candy ... so good... seriously i think they should sell them for people too :risa8: . No ones ever gotton sick off it either

Hmmmm I hung them in my horses' stalls and no one has touched them for three days. The big horses in my barn generally like them... but not really the carrot ones.

The big Andalusian stallion in my barn can eat one in ten minutes, he knows how to work that plastic apple!

Mine don't love the carrot flavored one's either. They'll eat them, but it takes them alot longer then the other flavors. You'd think they'd like it, but it's the least favorite for everyone here.

My filly gives honey chamomile and the special edition rasberry/vanilla 2 hooves up

: Everyone else likes the apple, banana and molasses.

Whoa Jen! Where did you find all those flavors??? The only flavors I can find either around here or online are Carrot, Peppermint, and Apple. Those are the only flavors I have ever seen!

Andrea

I carry apple, mint, carrot, molasses, honey & camomile,

banana, cherry & garlic so I know they are out there.

Favs are definitely mint & molasses!
