Liz Taylor dies

Reports were out early this morning that Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor has died at 79 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

Taylor has entered her second month at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was being treated for symptoms of congestive heart failure.

The Oscar-winning actress was admitted into the hospital in early February.

R.I.P. Elizabeth. Her health was so delicate for years. Sounds like she went peacefully.

As an aside....My mom looked so much like her in her younger years...

that is sad to hear...I know she wasn't a young woman, but it is still sad to hear....

I have friends 'in the business' who nick named one of my corgis Liz.....she's got a 'beauty spot' on her nose and is quite glamourous, so they can't resist calling her Liz every time they see her.

I wish her peace and comfort...something that seemed to elude her in this world.

The news came on an update from my local NBC station as breaking news early in the 'Today' show(which is tape-delayed here in the Mt. Time zone, so they weren't reporting it until later.)

Sad news; it's truly the passing of an icon, and an era. I met Liz, Rock Hudson, James Dean, George Stevens(the director), along with several of the 'bit players',some of whom actually sat around on horses and talked with us, during the filming of portions of "Giant", near Marfa, TX, the summer I was 15. The 'false front'--two sides only!-of the Reata ranch house was built on the Ryan Ranch belonging to my uncle's sister and brother-in-law. Since we went over there to help work cattle every summer, we were there several times during the filming...helped hold the cattle brought up for certain shots. Got to hang out around the caterer's tents during lunch(which is when we were introduced; Liz was very gracious, and even more gorgeous in person than on film!) Always a great memory....I always hated to hear of her later trials and tribulations.

May she rest in peace.
