Yesterday we went to our local fair benifit show and had a great day, even with the rain. They offer a few mini classes in amoung the big horse classes. It is so funny to watch the big horses and how scared they are of the mini's and carts. All the little kids just love to come over to the mini's.

The judge was not the greatest but we are paying for the opinion of one person. There were 4 youth's there to show all day (all 4H'ers together in my club!!). Lizzie (my little girl) is one of the youngest had a great day. Her driving is coming along and even now really starting to let her mare extend.

I'm not sure if anyone else has seen cones but oh my is it fun. They set up a course that you have to go through sets of cones in order and each ball you knock down is 5 seconds added to your score. I don't know who loves it more, the drivers or the spectators!

Lizzie was suprised to learn that I was going to return to the ring and show our new boy Patches. We were the only adult mini. For our reinsmanship class (where I found out we were the only one) we drove alone. I then talked to all my 4H'ers and their parents to see if they minded combining me with them but judge us seperately (they are going for Year End Points so didn't want to screw them up) and they didn't mind. It was great being in the ring with them. I love this group of kids, they all work together and help each other.

Here are are few pictures.

Hope I didn't bore you all too much.

Looks and sounds like you had lots of fun! I love your little girls outfit for showmanship, she looks very smart.

:aktion033: I for one love show pictures haven't been able to get to real life shows for a coule of years and miss it a lot this is the next best thing.

That show jacket came off ebay. She has another one for when she gets a little bigger.

This was my first time back in the ring in some time. Since Lizzie started showing I have stepped back and just helped her. It was kind of nice.

Thanks for sharing those pics with us. You guys look great and seems like you had FUN !

Looks like lots of fun. I am always amazed at how big the full sized horses look compared to our minis.

Yes, I'm giggling because I've gotten so used to being on the mini side of the equation that I was actually startled to see the big horses warming up around you and suddenly remember what it was like to be on THAT side of the fence at Fair-time! LOL. Ah, memories.

Thanks for posting, I think it's wonderful that you showed too and Lizzy looks smashing and highly professional in her outfits. I like her helmet too! It fits well and looks very nice.

Absolutely awesome, keep up the good work. Youngsters like you are the future of the mini world and it sure looks like it is in good hands.

Thank you all for your compliments.

Lizzie does love her little mare Millie. I even talked to her to make sure she didn't mind that she doesn't have a big horse to show like her friends. Her words were nope, I love showing miniatures. Her goal next year is to go Area 1.

You will make Area 1 next year if I have to hogtie and drag you two. You and Patches make a great team. Lizzie would do just great at Area 1 and so would you! Linda

Thank you for sharing your fair with us! I especially like that pic of Lizzie with the big horses in the background.....perhaps that one should be sent to the magazines for possible publication?

I think that everyone should keep those show pictures coming especially with the youth. I love seeing the youth. Fred, I'll make sure that Lizzie makes Area I next year, thats a promise. We'll start our piggy bank now.

Yes!!! You guys definitely have to go to Area 1! I hope to go but if it is during my 4-H County show I won't make it this year.

I really want and need to get Zeus there though, so I have a lot of decisions to make about 4-H.

Jess, I never even gave 4-H county show a thought but Lizzie isn't old enough to go on to state so this would be a great time for her. It is always had to make the right decision and I wish you luck in yours. Whatever your decision is on showing for 4-H I know if will be for the better of you and your horse but don't give up 4-H altogether.

Oh I am not giving up 4-H, I just have to make a decision about county. I missed it this past year because of Area 1 so I went to watch the State show and I missed it a lot. But then again, at Area 1 you aren't judged on your barn keeping skills

this is true...Area 1 you can toss things in a hurry if you have too and not worry about someone marking you down for it. Lizzie has a few more years before she has to worry about that.

Jess Area 1 will be more fun :bgrin . Hope you go. Linda
I'll try. It definitely is more fun :bgrin:. I just feel obligated to my 4-H club because I am their President (unless I get voted out in November).
