Hi, I was looking at a filly at our local fair that is for sale and the sire was listed as 4 G's Moonshine, the number written below the name is WC20844A-P. Was wondering how I can find the height on this sire. The mare was 31", and it said this little filly was 15", weighed 20 lbs. at birth which was 5-15-06, and currently is 18.5", and will not mature over 25". But I would like to find out how big the sire was. I could not find the person who was selling her to ask this question. Planning on returning to fair tomorrow. But was wondering if there is a way to find out before that to see if it is something I want to pursue. Thanks in advance!!!!

Can't help you on the height question, but... Best guess from looking at that number, the stallion is possibly World Class Registered (but I don't know).

i'm not sure...maybe ask someone to look it up for you on here....do a stallion look up on studbook online

I don't know that WC has a studbook online, but if they do, you could try.

I will say that no matter WHAT the registered/listed heights are, these are largely arbitrary for whatever reason.

For example, I owned a stallion that was permanent at 32" (I did not set this height). His parents were supposedly 28" and yet I knew who owned his dam. She was more likely 31" if she was an inch. His offspring tended to be taller than his background might suggest. He was actually more like 33.25" himself.

Your best bet is to ask the owners of the stallion as well as checking other offspring and his background, etc. if this is important to you for some reason (many times it is, it just depends such as are you breeding for under 30" or something, etc.).

No way of knowing... and to be sure, you'd have to really see the guy yourself. I've never known 4Gs breeding to be known for producing small, for what it's worth. Mostly seen pretty tall (34+) 4Gs horses. I like them tall, so that's not an insult, but if you're breeding for small size, not so sure that's the breeding program for you...

As for the filly... when you're dealing with teenies like that, you must inspect for dwarf traits VERY carefully! If you don't know what you're looking at, or there are no "gurantees" offered by the seller (health, soundness, height, yadda yadda), stay away.

And also, I've seen them born at 15" and hit 28"-29", even 30". So birth height isn't really that useful for predicting ultimate size, nor is height at 3 months...
