Just noticed that she's not putting any weight on her front foot. She's reacting when we manipulate her shoulder. She's an indoor/outdoor cat-- our only one that goes outside. She's in a large cage right now to limit her movement. She's munching on the kitten food we have in there. So that's a good sign.

Can I give her some aspirin that the vet gave me to give to my horse? 1/2 a pill?

I have banamine too!

I'm not a vet, but it seems I've read or been told that cats absolutely should not have aspirin. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone here will correct me.

I just did a quick search and here is what I found on one website; there are many sites with information.

http://www.vetinfo.com/catmed.html

Do not give acetaminophen to cats!
A: Please DO NOT give your cat aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol Rx, etc.), ibuprofen (Advil Rx, etc.) or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication without the direct advice of your vet to do so.

Aspirin has a half-life in people of about 2 to 3 hours -- so it is given every 4 hours. Aspirin has a half-life in cats of about 72 hours -- so one dose lasts 3 days! It is extremely easy to overdose a cat on aspirin. Acetaminophen is even more toxic to cats and they may die with a single administration of extra-strength acetaminophen products.

I'm having problems with the links on this browser, so can't search more sites. (I just typed in "Cat apirin" into the search).

Thanks! It's just hard for me to see her in pain.

I would suggest for the night untill you can get a hold of vet.

Heating pad on low or hot water bottle.

Might ease the pain.

Heat won't hurt.
