OK I'm just bursting at the seams to share this! I'm so excited! I just found out earlier today that March 1st I go to live on a little 10 acre farm with the minis and my Daisy. Daisy is already there and has been now for almost 3 months. It is the happiest place she's ever been and gets the most phenomenal care a horse could ever have.
I kept teasing my friend that I wanted her to adopt me---and she did! Well almost. Hubby has been making payments on our motorhome for a couple of years now and most of the time it sits in the driveway or the relatives beg to use it during the summer. Sooooo since they have a complete RV hookup complete with septic, she said bring it on down if you want and stay with your horses. I am going to live in it Monday thru Friday while we get the house ready to sell.
It's going to be great and although I won't be at the house during the week my hubby and I actually won't be seeing any less of each other because we already work opposite work shifts. He will stay at the house during the week while we sell it to keep it from being burgled or vandalized--nothing worse than a vacant house to worry about. We lived on our sail boat for over 4 years and the motorhome is twice the size so I have no qualms about us being able to handle it.
We'll be in such a beautiful part of the valley, so peaceful and fresh there is even a creek to listen to on the property. I'm just beside myself with anticipation. Horse shows, trail rides, bbqs, great friends and to live with my horses, what more could two old farts like us want for? Plus, if we want to take off and go camping we can actually start using our massive multi state campground membership that we pay the big bucks for and never use anymore. We used to have a great time going camping all around the state and to the San Juans every Independence Day but have had to forgo it ever since the minis arrived because I never trusted ANYONE to take care of them before. But I can now. There will always be someone to take care of the horses and now they can finally take vacations and we'll we'll take care of all the horses so they can get away too.
When the house sells, we will be gypsies for a few years but this will enable us to both retire in approximately 3 years totally debt free with a tidy nestegg to boot and then we might retire east of the mountains perhaps in some tiny town with lots of character. The family is preparing to buy back the old homestead ranch in Wenas WA and run it as a resort, so if that transpires we may end up there. Wherever we go it's going to be someplace rural and beautiful, perhaps Oregon, who knows, we could end up anywhere but we'll have a few years to decide that part. :bgrin
