This past year has been filled with challenges. Hubby ill, having to sell my animals and my farm, downsizing, moving away from all my friends. I could dwell on everything I'm missing or I can start fresh. Now, when we moved, I may have destashed a tad too much. ahem. I could only make so many decisions on what to keep and what to donate, so in the end, I just donated almost everything (especially considering we have no attic here). I didn't keep a single Christmas decoration. I didn't think I could ever enjoy the holidays again. But, you gotta move on. So this year I have purchased a tree (sort of). It is a whopping 2 feet tall. I know, right? And I bought teeny tiny lights and have made all sorts of ornaments. Here it is, in all its glory - all two feet of it. I'm happy with my little felt goodies and it has helped to keep me busy.

Very cute.

I bought a small tree that hangs on the wall, it comes pre-lit; I'm hoping it'll be safe from the cats.

Very cool

WOW! It's whimsical, fantastic and beautiful - all rolled into 1 of 2 short feet of enjoyment.

Amazing how the world looks when viewed thru different glasses. I'm glad that yours is just a bit rosier...

Take care, girl, and happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

I love it! Maybe we'll follow your example. I'd like to have a tree but never put one up. The size of yours would be just right for us, too!

The yellow "garland" is actually two yellow fabric tape measures. They come in a bunch of colors and they were $.99 each. So for $2 I got enough "garland" for my little tree.
"Sew" fitting, don't you think, when you are a quilter? That's a great "find".

We've had smaller trees for years - our house was just too small, and had too many people in it, to allow for a bigger tree. This is a permanent home now and I'm hoping to be able to expand our decorating a little But we like our little 3' tree... We also tape down the base of our tree to whatever bench or table we set it up on to prevent the regular dog and cat orbits from knocking it over. Previously, they've all known not to play with the decorations or cabling. This year we have a full bottle of vinegar and water to spray our foster dog - who still investigates everything with her teeth. Will probably have our tree up next weekend. The lights and other things started going up this weekend - the storage/2 moves last Christmas destroyed a lot of lights and some of our other decorations, too

I need some potpourri in Christmas/holiday scents!! Does anyone know how to clean up pine cones to bring into the house and use for decorations? I've never used my own before and we have some good sized ones here...

I like decorating with pine cones but hate the sap. I put a few in a zip loc bag with glitter or powdered cinnamon and shake the bag. I then take the pine cones out and tap off the loose stuff. The dry matter sticks to the sap and coats it so they do not get sap on everything else. The sparkles look prettty, plus white glitter looks like frost and the cinnamon smells nice. I have coated them in wax melted down from old candles too to use as fire starters.
