pm'd Kay Kay a few minutes ago, but haven't heard back. Looking for advice

how do you go about picking up a horse with no Coggins or health papers and no time to do it? horse would need to travel over several states.

The best advice is DON'T DO IT!!! Arizona will hang you for passing through with no paperwork, I don't know about other states. If you try to bypass the stations, they will have a cop on your butt before you even pass the onramp! Why take the risk? Plus if that horse ends up with EIA, you have just tracked it through multiple states and exposed how many other horses??? A friend of mine tried to bypass the station with a trailer full of panels. Before she got to the other side, she was pulled over by the Highway patrol. She figured she didn't need to stop with an empty trailer, wrong! She got fined $200! When that sign says all livestock trailers must exit, they mean it! Empty or not!

Call around to the vets in your area and ask if they have a lab on-site. If they do, they can do the bloodwork right while you wait. I found one in Missouri, once. that did the whole exam, health papers, and coggins in about an hour. Good luck! Linda

Is there some place the animal could be moved to temporarily until a coggins and health could be obtained?

Well, I think the story has changed. The owner now wants $1,000 for the horse. I'm wondering if the shooting the horse story was just to get attention to an ad.

minimule, that was what I was suggesting to the owner, but never got anywhere with the suggestion. I even found someone who could pick her up and hold her.

I want to thank everyone here for the suggestions. It's frustrating isn't it?

charlotte i do think something kinda fishy was going on. but we do get that alot even in rescue where someone just wants a good home for a horse and then changes their mind and wants $$$ Let me know if you need anymore help

Someone needs shooting and it is not the horse!!! As soon as anyone shows any interest, away they go. I had this happen with a dwarf a few years back- my daft friend bought him (I'm glad he got a good home but I had told the guy to ring me when he came to hos senses!!!)
