While we were in Florida, we went looking around the area and found a few places that looked nice that were for rent, but we hesitated even calling to come look closer, because most landlords want to rent immediately and we are not able to rent until September, but one place really seemed nice, so we called and did NOT disclose the information about when we could move in (and they didn't ask, which I found odd...lol). The owners were still living there and had not even packed and told us they were looking for a place in Ocala, so obviously they were not in a hurry! We *really* loved the place and when we got back to our friends' house, we told them about it and how the owners were not ready to move yet...and our friend Vic who is a past real estate agent, said "why don't you call and explain your situation and see if they will work a deal with you on when to move in"...so on our way to the airport to leave, we did and left a voicemail. During our layover in Houston, we missed a call from them and they left a voicemail saying they would be interested!! Deb is like don't get your hopes up yet! But, of course in my mind I was thinking of it as "our new farm"...lol

We talked to them and they asked us to send a rental application to them, so that was done on Monday thru email...we waited...and waited...and then I started to pout as well as drive Deb nuts by constantly asking "Have they contacted you yet?" lol

On Thursday afternoon, we were driving up to Spanaway WA to the Area 8 Nat'l show and we get a call...we got it!!!!!!!!!!

So....our new farm in Bradenton, Florida is 5 acres with several pastures, round pen, outdoor arena, 12 stall shed row barn w/ screened back (so it stays cool inside)...oh yeah and the house is a 3 bdrm/2bath manufactured home with an above ground pool that sits at back deck level so it almost looks like an inground pool...and the deck surrounds the pool!

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited...I can hardly wait to move now! LOL!

(btw, the stalls are 14x 14...so you know they can easily be divided to make 24 stalls!! LMAO!!

Edited to add pics:

I just looked up the CL add of the property and got these pics from that (not sure if they will remain if the people delete the ad or when it expires)

Oh many congrats - so a move is on the cards for September!! Bet you wish it was tomorrow LOL!!

BTW - dont be in too much of a rush to divide your 14 x 14's if it is not necessary - it's a great size for foaling mares, plus giving room for the foals to 'play' about in if the weather means they cant go out for a day or two!

Good luck with the move - we shall, of course, expect to read all about it in full detail!

I knew you were TRUE horse people when I read the description of the property-all the horse stuff first and the place for humans as kind of an afterthought.Spoken like REAL HORSE PEOPLE!I am very glad for you and happy for your anticipated move south.Keep us posted

Thank you Bev. and We couldn't be more pleased with the property we found and the prospects that go along with it. And yes to all of our friends on here. I know I'm in big trouble when we get there because there will be no holding Linda back then.

Congratulations! What an awesome farm.

Hm! Foaling stalls but you don't have any mares. Gee! I wonder how long that will take you. Not to mention the 5 acres that will need more than two horses to graze on.

Be very careful or you will have to buy a Semi to pull your Giant horse trailer. LOL

LOL Erin!

Marie...actually we have 3 horses and one of them is a mare (well, yearling, but still...) I am already looking to add to that number, but Deb has "forbade" me to buy anything else til AFTER the move...I'm ready!

Thats right I forgot about Gabby. I suspect however it won't take you long to locate some mature mares for your new breeding program. You are going to have so much fun getting moved and setup on your new farm.

You lucky ducks, I am jealous!!!!! I absolutely love Florida and that's a dream of mine to move there permanently. We inherited a beach house right on the Atlantic Ocean in New Smyrna Beach which is Heaven but not exactly the right location for horses.

I sure hope you post pictures of your new place so I can live vicariously through you girls!

Congratulations Linda!

Thanks everyone! I do feel very lucky to have found this place! I still have to pinch myself (at least til we are actually there! lol)...September feels so far away now.

LOL MA...I know, but it is so true! The house could practically be a shack and as long as my horses are comfy, thats all that matters...LOL!

Thankfully, the house is comfy, too!

Glad you found a place here! We'll almost be neighbors - maybe 15-20 minutes away. Hope all goes smooth with your move. See ya when you get here. You're gonna have lots of miniature horses around.
