Northwest people...Dorothy Stevens

Hi All,

Just wanted to ask you guys for prayers for Dorothy. She goes into surgery tomorrow morning to get her leg amputated. Please pray(if you beleive in prayer) that the surgery is sucessful and that she is able to recover from it without any problems. She also has staff infection in her leg and we are hoping that it will not spred throughout her body after the surgery. Please also pray for her family as we are all trying to get ready for after the surgery and the long months of recovery ahead of all of us!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the kind words, I will be sure to relay everything to Dorothy. I got a call from Vern, Dorothy's husband, at about 1 o'clock, and he said she was being moved from the recovery room and into her own room. The doctor said everything went ok, and that it all looks good. So now it becomes the task of rehab.

Maryann - this is just a continuation of all of the knee surgeries she has had in the past. Now it has gotten to the point where the bones were too weak to support a rod, and the infection kept eating away the glue that held everything together.

Hi All,

Just wanted to give a quick update.

Dorothy is now walking with a walker, sounds like they have a metal post that she is using until her prostectic(sp?) leg is done. She will be coming home on friday, and gets to be a pirate for a while (with her post leg).

I work at the hospital where her surgery was done so I went to visit her on Tuesday and she was up and at-'em like nothing had happened. She kept making jokes about how she continually reaches down to pull her "bum leg" up on the chair cushion, only to realize it's not there anymore!

Strong woman. She spent the whole time talking mini show politics until my newbie eyes were spinning. LOL

Hi All,

Dorothy is home. Got home yesterday. She is doing good, and like Leia said, she is going full throttle. She did have one fall during the night (she slipped off her bed). But otherwise she is doing great.

Hi All,

Angie wanted me to e-mail you guys and ask for your prayers for Dorothy(again). Last night her leg was bright red and now it is red all the way up to her hip. We are hpong it is not the staff infection coming back. They are headed to the doctor at 4:30 this afternoon. Please pray that it is not anything really bad. She doesn't want to believe that it is anything important and is denying that it has to do with the staff infection.
