Why is that whenever I post a picture on this board they seem to almost always get sent to the photo board??? I just posted a post about our newest broodmare and sure enough it got moved to the photo board, yet only a few posts down someone posted one of their new stallion addition and just the other day someone posted their new filly and neither of them were moved??? I posted pictures of our newest colt when he was dried off and yep you guessed they were moved too, but time and time again others will post an announcement with wet pictures and then post a new post later with dry pictures and they remain on the board.. And why is it hard for people who open up a post with a picture of a horse and leave a comment, even if it is a simple "oh she's cute', it's a little hurtful when I post a picture to share with others and come back to see I've had 30 people look but no one bothered to comment :no: I try to comment on all the posts I open if I'm able, you can bet if I open a post that has a picture that isn't asking a specific question I'll leave a comment..

I'm sure there will a few of you that will think I'm whining and complaining, but it does hurt a little to see my posts moved when there are similar posts still there or no comment at all to my post.. Makes me feel like my horses are not worthy enough to be pictured on the same page as others.. And I know I'm not the only one who feels this way... Flame Away.....

My guess is that your picture post was moved because you just posted those same pictures of her this week on a color thread. You can rest assured it is certainly nothing personal. We are trying to keep the Main Forum as educational as possible. Introducing your new foal is OK. If your new foal pictures got moved I don't have the answer to that one. There are many people who happen to think that the Photo Forum is going great and it's not like you have to do a whole lot to get there besides click your mouse.

That could be, but the stallion posted below, was posted previously regarding color and then reposted with the announcement of addition.. And I'm not meaning any harm/critisism to his owner..

Please don't take anything personally, particularly regarding the policing/administration of this Forum. This is a VERY VERY VERY busy forum, and I do not envy the moderators' job one bit! I think they do a good job. It is impossible to police this forum 100% perfectly. Give them some slack!

Sometimes I reply with a quick "oh congrats, how cute" but sometimes I'm in a hurry or there are lots of threads I want to check out, so I don't reply. Nothing against you or others that I don't reply to. The world is a random, unfair place sometimes. Oh well.

Again, I'm sorry you feel the need to vent, but just try not to take things personally.

I think it's still a situation where the act is being fine tuned. I really think the world of and respect each of the moderators! They go out of their ways to be fair and they are also very nice people. However, I have felt like if there isn't some kind of more standard rules, then feelings are going to be hurt which I think is already happening (and not just with you).

When it comes to new pictures of my existing horse, or new pictures of my foal (that I already showed you before) -- basically update kind of things not ANNOUNCEMENTS, then I think those go well on the picture forum.

I think what's happening is that we have some great moderators, but they are individuals and each have a point of view on what should stay on the main forum, and what should be moved. However, I think there are feelings getting hurt because it's perceived that some people can, and some people can't.

I think the fair thing to do is have all pictures posted on the picture forum..yep that is what it is for, except those which are educational. Showing how a harness fits is educational but the pistures of the new babies is for fun , same as the pictures for the showing. I really like the new picture part because it does give us a choice of what we want to look at. Like it was stated it only takes a click of the mouse to see the pictures and spend as much time as we care to looking at them. There are pictures that are put on to teach/educate others and that truly belongs on the main forum. I hope people don't feel badly that comments aren't always generous with there posting of pictures....it just happens that some people are very popular on here and will get the responses while other won't...no big deal and we can always stop posting pictures if we think it isn't worthwhile. Many times I have stopped from posting a picture because I think no one will be interested. Life may not always seem fair but the reality is we shouldn't take it personally. Again, I hope all pictures of new horses, babies, wins are put on the picture forum for everyone to take a look who chooses to. I love reading the interesting thought provoking articles.

This is not intended to attack you Lucky-C - I do not know why your picture was moved because I have not even seen your post..

The Picture Forum was placed to STOP some people that like to post pictures of the SAME horse in different variations on the MAIN FORUM on an almost daily basis to a point it drives people NUTS!

We try to keep the main forum INFORMATIVE - Seeing the same horse OVER & OVER & OVER doing something different is not informative..

We have no set rules on what stays and what goes.. BECAUSE how do we define it?? Who is to say what is informative and what is not.. That is why it is so hard to even set such a rule.. In fact I asked the MODS to lighten up on moving posts just the other day..

I personally was not happy with setting up the picture forum because I knew it would cause such problems.. A lot of people like it because it took the non-informative post off the EXTREMELY BUSY MAIN FORUM and gave a PLACE where people can POST PICTURES JUST FOR FUN!

I am really not having a good day here.. and this does not help..

I BEG YOU... if anyone has a suggestion on how to fix this problem.. please let me know.. We are open to all suggestions.

I do like the photo forum, mainly because I still live in the sticks and we have dial up. Sometimes I can't wait twenty minutes to get pictures down, and I know not to go there if I do not have the time.

Now at work, different story. We have DSL and sometimes on my self appointed breaks, I go look at pictures, and too, being at work, I have time to look, but not always time to post. So, I may be one to open and not say anything.

I also tend to go in spirts. I may post 10 times a day, ok, or more,,,,,,and other times I do not get on or post for days.

I really do try to read them all, but can't always respond to all. And believe it or not,,sometimes, I don't have much to say. :bgrin

I know a lot of people who post for a lot of reasons, but I can't say I know anyone who doesn't post somewhere for a certain reason. I just read about 8 posts before I came here, didn't post on any of them. Can't say for sure why,,,,,,,,it for sure wasn't to hurt anyone.

You know what I'm also finding that jerks my chain? People that only use the forum to post photos of their new foals and then you never hear from them again!! They only post at foaling time. Just an observation I've had.

: YEP! I hear ya on that one! Seems pretty obvious they use the Forum as a marketing ploy only. It's not so bad when they at least support LB through advertising and/or sponsorships, but then you get some that don't ever offer a cent towards trying to help keep this site online, but use it to sell their horses.

This is an expensive site to run...one of the reasons for Mary Lou's headache today, is that with the recent days Forum troubles, just runnng the forum alone, with none of the other LB pages, has now expanded so much, that the company has forced her to go to a dedicated server, so this alone, will cost her thousands a year, just to allow us to all congregate here on the forum to visit, share, and learn. This is a perfect example of where your sponsorships and advertising support comes in so handy, and are so very much appreciated! LOL I think many of us feel that about those that use the forum only to market themselves or there farm but.. I think in the long run it doesnt work as many feel the same way as those stated here somehow "used" is the only term I have to explain it.

Just a thought on why people open and read and do not reply: Maybe they are reading to learn. Often they may have already replied and are revisiting the thread to see others comments.

If I don't have anything to say that has not already been said, I often say nothing. I am also more likely to comment on a foal that belongs to someone I know than I am to comment on one belonging to someone I don't know. Sorry if that offends anyone.

I sometimes open a thread asking about color. If the question has already been answered and I agree with the answer, I see no need to respond unless I have something to add. Sometimes, I simply do not know the answer and see no need to state that I don't know.

I do not mean to sound harsh but there are only a certain amount of hours in a day. Songcacher, you hit the nail on the head. People should post to what they want to post to and not feel they have to rack up posts in someone's thread just to be nice. It's all part of that "How Many Forum Members Does It Take To Change A Light Bulb" mentality. If a post has been answered why should 50 people have to say the same thing. If some threads get overlooked, don't take it personally.

Whining about what should go on a Picture Forum or whatever is a bit ridiculous. After all it is NOT arms and legs. We are all lucky to have the chance to show off our horses no matter what Forum they are posted on. The monitors don't sit back and make a hit list on who to bump off to another Forum.

I understand why it is this way, and while I don't "love" it, I am fine with it, and try to remember to post my pictures appropriately, and for sure haven't got the heart to complain about it, even if I felt it was in error....

I do overlook the photo forum more than I'd like to, but that's changing...I am fine with it.

I just have to insert that I was raised to "if you don't have anything good to say, keep quiet". So I look and don't post except to subjects that I think I can actually add something positive. Sometimes I look at the foal pictures but most of time I skip those and I have only gone to the "photo" page once or twice for the same reason. I only look at the things that interest me and new babies aren't really my thing.

We all have our own ideas of what's important. Maybe it's color, or driving or even babies and thank goodness we don't all like the exact same things - what a dull world it would be!!

I'm sure glad Mary Lou and all those that work on this site are willing to do that work. I'm just really glad it's here so I can get the things I think are important.

I totally agree!

Could one more list/forum be added to the forum, 1 just for announcements, or 1 just for educational topics. I think the photo forum is a good thing!

Sorry I don't usually post unless, I can add something that may be helpful or have questions.

I love all the pictures but how many times do you need to read about how cute they are?? I'll tell everyone now I think they are all Adorable! I love them all, and I'd take them all in if I could.

I liked the idea of having the new foals list pinned to the top of the forum but It wasn't used as I thought it would be, thought all new foal pics would go there, then we could open up that and see the latest new borns.

Unfortunately, can't always make everyone happy.
