Our first show is next weekend and im starting to stress bigtime now.

Royal is in decent shape i guess, not exactly where i had planned him to be at this time but most of this is due to RAIN for the past 2 weeks or so. We're really short on days and Thursday we're taking him over to Kay's so i can get him clipped and see how to clip a shetland and to show her our 'final product'. Then Friday we're packing up and heading out around noon to get him in his stall and settled in for his show Sat. & Sun. So that takes away 2 days, leaving us with today, mond, tues, wens.

We just have so much to do this week and so little time. Im planning on getting him clean 'down there' today which im planning on doing tonight. But what is really killing us is its been POORING down rain all day and if the forcast is right (is it ever??), it is going to rain tommarow & tuesday. Royal needs training and going over our rutine (which we cannot do in 3inches of mud) and he needs to be conditioned and exersized (which we cannot do in Rain & mud). I even planned out each day starting yesterday untill Friday just so we wouldnt be put in this situation ....but the weather has other plans for my plans.

I think he will look nice for the show, i'm not disatisfied with where he is at phycally right now ...i just think he could be in better shape. Training-wize ....i still need to work with him on showing his neck and getting those darn ear's up. If i could trot him 10-15min today, mon & tues & wed and give him off thursday and then do 10min trotting friday morning early before his bath before we leave as well ...i would be satisfied that much. If i can squeeze in 5-10min halter training sessions each day from now untill friday ..i would be happy to.

I just cant beleive we're this close to the show and still have so much work to do. I managed to get my show clothes today. We've put allot of work into this show and i would hate to see all our work go down the drain because of the weather.

I never would have thought it was this much stress and work, lol. 5 days away from the show and my nerves are already on end.

Times like this ...an indoor arena sure sounds good.

Thanks for letting me just vent some frustration!

I'll post pics of our trip to Kays thursday and pics of the final product of Royal a little closer to the show this week sometime. Of course you'll get pics from the show!

Leanna, Have some chocolate and relax! Im coming too and I have one horse to clip who has not been worked for two years but is going anyway that is Image. I just brought her home from Cheryls and am taking her out to steel so I thought what the heck shes going in mini halter. Shirley T is going in Shetland halter and she still needs bridle path and face done, bladed on the body to get rid of the stray leftover winter fuzz and both need their feet done! IT will be ok.... Kay and I will be there....Bruce is showing my horses except in PMC if there is any I havent even really read the program, Bruce put the entries in... we are all just going to have a good time on the way to taking mares to Steel to be bred!

One word for you Leanna, "CHILL"

Been in the same mess with riding horses. Shows coming up, flooding going on all over the place and no way to ride them before the show. The way I look at it is: if they weren't ready by a week before the show, they should have stayed home in the first place. One week shouldn't make that much difference if any at all.

So you do one of two things:

You don't go

or

You go and punt.

You'd be surprised of all the people that are going to show up that are in the exact same boat that you are in.

So don't worry and don't borrow trouble.

No one else is going to be perfect in the first place.

Let him surprise you.

Take your cue from him.

Think of it this way: that you didn't want to work your horse a week before the show so he would show "fresh" and not become bored. I'll bet anything he's going to have those ears up big time.

You're fine. You're horse is fine. Everything will be fine. Loosen up and enjoy and we want pictures.

Don't suppose I can interest you in a nice hot cup of herbal tea????

Leeana... DITTO!

My show is on Sunday, so 7 days away, and I'm behind! No ones clipped, OR SWEATED! Everyone is fat and flappy. Nitro isn't jumping right (been not jumping for so long!) doing pivoting/half-pasing

: :new_let_it_all_out: Both need two more baths and I'm praying for good weather the day of the show

Times like this ...an indoor arena sure sounds good...

Well It ain't helping me! Since a cat had kittens in one of the horse's stalls, they can't come inside... so if it's raining I can't work my guys! (My mom won't let me put them out side)

aww leanna itll all be fine and it always works out somehow!! the rain has put us behind too but remember even working for 5 mins everyday will help. Just stand him up and get him to stretch his neck in the barn. I need to get blacks mane and tail dyed but the endless rain has put a damper on that. i figure if worse comes to worse ill spray it black and deal with it.

this is your first rated show so just go with having fun in mind and try not to stress. not every horse is going to be in perfect shape. im showing crunch even though he still needs about 20 lbs but hes going anyway. and black isnt quite as in condition as id like but hes going too. this is his first show so that should be really interesting lol.

Just relax, everything will be fine. I agree with Marty, I always give at least three or four days off before competition just to make sure my horse is at the top of his game. Just relax and go have fun, that's what it is all about any way. You've worked hard and should be proud no matter what happens. There are always more shows so go have fun, get lots of pictures for us

: and have lots of fun OK?

I just had my first AMHR show yesterday in the mud and rain. Yeah, it wasn't a gorgeous day and the poor horses got soaked, but we made the best of it.

Really, since it is raining, just practice on setting up and your show moves.

The most important thing is to HAVE FUN!

Oh, you will do fine. Just go and have fun! I have to clip both horses and dye Lacey's mane/tail. They need baths. It will all work out! Wont it?? LOL It will! Just remember to breathe!
