Phoebe had an appointment with the vet last week. She had become extremely lame in her left front and I had found a nasty draining tract in that foot that you couldn't even blow air on without her hitting the ceiling. New x-rays were taken and her feet were nerve blocked. Dr B opened up the tract in her foot and bandaged it up. She looked so good walking around like a normal horse with her numb feet but she paid for it dearly the next day! He showed me on the x-rays how far back to trim her toes. Her breakover is now very far back as would be expected with so much damage to the coffin bones. She will basically be walking on a stilt. Her feet need to have the ability to rock forward or backward, however she wants them to rock. With 80% of her coffin bone gone her bone structure now is very upright. Since I trimmed her feet on Sunday she is moving around much more but is still on pain relievers for awhile. Here's some pics of her feet after I trimmed them Sunday. Still have a little more to go but this was a huge change for her.

We have a ways to go yet but at least the feet are looking more normal. We need to get them to grow straight down again instead of curved.

Wow - you are doing a GREAT job!!! Congratulations!! The rads will really help you with the trimming - my farrier used them quite a bit when trying to correctively trim my horse. My vet also made what looked like skis made out of popsicle sticks and tape - they stuck out the back about 3" to keep my horse from rocking backwards. Lastly, a great site you might want to visit and post your pictures for feedback is www.horseshoes.com; they are an incredible group of farriers who help out owners - I cannot speak highly enough of them.

Best wishes and thanks for the update!
