I am leaving for the vets in a few minutes. It is time to help my girl Jessie to the rainbow bridge. She has been with me for 15 years, long before my husband. She is the sweetest girl, with a heart of gold. She has been my co pilot through life for the past 15 years and will be so sorely missed.

Go in peace my dear girl, you will always hold a special place in heart.

Aww...a pretty Keeshond girl. I love them, having known a few myself. I wish her a happy journey and I know she will wish you the same as she will be waiting for you with an eager soul.

Please know my thoughts are with you for the anguish you are going through, but you are doing what you do out of love even though it is not easy. It is noble and extremely difficult though because of that love you have for her.

PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU TODAY WITH THIS HARD DECISION.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then will you do what must be done,

For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.

You will be sad I understand,

But don't let grief then stay your hand,

For on this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,

You wouldn't want me to suffer so.

When the time comes, please, let me go.

Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,

Only, stay with me till the end

And hold me firm and speak to me

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree

It is a kindness you do to me.

Although my tail its last has waved,

From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must be you

Who has to decide this thing to do;

We've been so close -- we two -- these years,

Don't let your heart hold any tears.

My grandmother used to say, "Our animals give us love, and comfort, and joy. When the time comes to say goodbye we often have to make that choice for them. In doing so we take their pain and make it our own so that they may have peace."

May she find peace, and may you find comfort in knowing that she had a wonderful life with you. many creatures never experience that.

I am so sorry! It's so tough. My heart goes out to you. I know as I have had to put 3 of my OLD dogs to sleep this year and have a 17 year old that is on medication right now. It's the toughest thing we can do but we seem to know when the time is right. Big hugs.........

It is the price we pay for all the happiness, and, although it is hard, it is a small price to pay, in the end.

God go with you and with your dear girl, think of her as she was, light of foot and bright of eye, and know that that is how she will be just one second after you do this hardest of tasks.

You are setting her free, that is all.

I'm so sorry for the pain you're feeling. It's so very hard to lose a best friend. Godspeed Jessie and {{{HIGS}}} to you.

I am so sorry!! She is a beautiful girl and I know she has given you much happiness through the years. My thoughts and prayers are with you both!!

Oh times like these just tear me up inside. I hope you find peace and comfort in knowing that you and she shared a special love thru so many years. What a beautiful girl.

Am thinking of you today and your special "co-pilot".

She was/is so obviously loved and she knows it, even with your last act of compassion.

Blessings,

MA

Awww, my heart goes out to you. She has been your co-pilot throughout the years, and today you have to be hers, to help her find her way over the Rainbow Bridge. My heart breaks for you.

When you are ready, I invite you to visit my Rainbow Bridge Poems page. (((((HUGS))))))

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. Jessie passed peacefully in my arms this afternoon.

"tears flowing"..... I am soooo sorry....I had a co-pilot too. I always called her my "co-pilot" I know what you mean.....that was in 1989....I miss her so much, still. It's strange though...I have always felt she waited for me to be happy with my own children before she checked out...my first born was 5 months old when she passed. Jessie is with you...always know that

P.S. Jessie was gorgeous...You sent her off lovingly in your arms and heart...the only way.

Lots of hugs and warm wishes headed your way. What a beautiful girl she was. Such a hard thing to do but it's the only right thing to do when the journey reaches that point. -jo ann-
