Well, all I can say is WOW! We had an AWESOME time at Gordyville. Comparing Gordyville to St. Louis I can see some of the points others made against St. Louis. Our stalls were in the "back" which honestly wasn't very far at all. But, we could still see what was happening out in the ring. I only have a few gripes about the facility.....1) it's 18 hours away! :new_shocked: 2) Lack of electrical outlets easily accessible to the stalls 3) Wash rack was horrible. Concrete yes, but it was hard to find a good CONSISTANT water temperature, lack of good drainage, and no ventilation. 4) shavings were extremely dusty. Congress still needs to be moved. The facilities aren't up to par with what I consider acceptable for a national level show - they are nice for an Area or local, but not Congress. In mingling with other farms, I did notice that there were SEVERAL farms missing that were at St. Louis last year. I have a hard time believing that Gordyville attracts MORE farms than St. Louis does. Granted there is the high fuel prices and the virus scare that kept some away. I heard several comments from others that if it's moved too far west (and I'm sorry, if I have to cross the Mississippi river going EAST, then it's NOT CENTRALLY LOCATED!!) they won't come. All I have to say is how many ASPC shows do they support and how many MORE exhibitors will Congress bring in if it's more accessible to the general public. The registry needs to be more willing to make changes for the good of the WHOLE association not just a few individuals. But anyway, off my soap box....

We had the opportunity to meet and chat with several forum members and well established individuals of our association. From the forum: Leeana - it was great meeting you and if you ever need help, I'm always more than willing!! KayKay - you were a blast and thanks so much for letting me check my overflowing email! It wasn't hot, Kay - trust me!
: Jennifer Radoi - Sweet Opal - Girl, you're a riot! Lewella - who knows EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE! And I'm sure I'm forgeting others.
Some of the established members I had the opportunity to chat with: Dave Diemer from Pony Vista, Tom Taylor, Dennis and Sharron O'Keefe (who were very happy with how Happy Hooligan was maturing, whom I purchased from them last year), Sandy McGowan (also a very happy breeder - purchased Texaco MGS from her!), Jim McKeith from Snowberry Farm, Earnest Lambdin, Marvin Subbert, and many others.
Our 2007 Congress was a huge success and I have my husband and clients to thank. Without them, none of this would have been possible!

: I was a "little" emotional coming out of this class and it was all, unfortuantely , caught on tape by RFD-TV. I'm really hopeing my "performance" does not go national!

Over all, we had a great Congress! When I checked the judges cards, I had placed 1st under at least one judge in all but 4 classes. Even placed 1st several times with one particular judge who I thought didn't like me. It just proves you never know how you're gonna do until you show up!
