Just wondering what you all do.............do you ever go to a site's "sold" page??

I do, but only when I'm looking to see an example of the foals they've produced or maybe if I've had an on-going interest in a particular horse I don't see on their "for sale" page anymore. What do you folks do?

Tell you the truth, I've never actually come across a farm website with a "Sold" page. I've usually found recently sold horses on the for sale page, but thats it.

Though, I do like why you go on them. So maybe I would!

Hi Karen,

I have gone to the sold page if the site has one. But since we don't breed, it was honestly only if they had leopard appys on their site, and I wanted to check out the ones I missed out on. Happy to say, I don't have to do that anymore! Hugs to my boy

I will sometimes look if I am considering inquiring about a still for sale horse because I may be curious to see who has bought from that breeder before.

I always check out sold pages, because i like to see what a farm has produced/sold and because i just love looking at pictures of pretty horses.

First thing I do is look at the sales page, if I see something I like there, I go to the stallions and than the mares page. I want to see consistancy in the horses, if I don't see it I move on.

Yes, I normally do. I look at the stallions first, and if I don't see quality, I leave. If I have made my way through the mares, foals, and sale pages, I will look at the sold.

Although I don't really "shop" because I can't have a horse of my own yet

: I will go to the gelding page first if they have one I like to see what they are willing to geld, and then to the stallion page, mares, and foals, I always go to the sold page if they have one I like to see what horses have left the barn.

I would probably look at a 'sold' page if I was interested in a specific horse and wanted to see their get. Otherwise it wouldn't be of use to me. I also hate to see lots of solds on a sale page - for a few days or weeks fine, but not months later!!!

I look at them. I love to look at other's minis, sold or not

I don't like to see a lot of sold horses on a sales page either. I do go to the sold page, most of the time.

I have 2 recent years of sold pages on my website

: . I wouldn't be interested in what a farm sold 5 years ago. jmo cjmm

I think it's a great idea to have a sold page! I like to see horses that are for sale on sales pages and those that have sold on another page. I remember once browsing thru a website where a majority of the horses on the sales page were sold...I kept scrolling and scrolling .....needless to say I did'nt ever go back. I did e-mail the person to tell them my thoughts...hope I did'nt offend but it was quite frustrating.

I have gone to your page time and again Little Wee...your horses are beautiful! If I were ready to get us a litle mare I would have snatched one of yours up in a minute. The bloodlines you have interested me and the fact that you spend alot of time and effort socializing them.

I insisted that my husband included any of my sold horses on my sales page...Knowing that it would be a reflected example of the quality that we have invested in...

I know some people might think it dumb that a few of the horses on my sold page were sold years ago, but there is a reason they are there.

Since I don't buy and sell horses all the time, most of my horses are related. When I have someone looking at my sale horses, I direct them to my sold page to look. There are past foals, dams, sires, siblings, etc with pedigrees on there. It saves me much time trying to find and email all those photos to show someone the family of the horse they are interested in.

Works for me!

Karen, I have a separate page of "past foals" that shows what we have had sell in times past. I think it's nice to see for myself and others the horses that were here, then gone. All were loved and all have super homes.

Yes -- I look at SOLD pages as well as For Sale -- and what mares are bred to what stallions so what foals they are expecting in the upcoming foaling season as well.

I'll look at sold pages, I usually start with the stallion pages. The main page however makes the website. If its done badly or is cluttered I might look at the other pages but its hard to get past Bad pictures. If you are offering a horse for sale, I don't want to see pictures of the horse standing half sideways. I want a good conformation shot, a moving shot and a head shot. If you can only put one thats fine but make it a GOOD one. I've been looking for a friend and the pictures I'm getting on websites or through emails are either the horse's head is turned, or the horse is standing half sideways or whatever. I don't care if the horse is set up or not that doesn't matter I just want to SEE the horse. My friend is going to look at one today that I didn't pass on the horse to her because of the picture. So pictures are a big thing. They don't have to be professional, just show the horse. There's one more thing about websites I hate, those silly curser phrases or text that attach to the pointer. They are SOOOO annoying and to me detract from the web page.

Just my 2 cents

Karen

I tend to look at their breeding stock.....mares, stallions and then their sale page. Most don't have sold pages that I've seen but I probably wouldn't look anyway unless there was a foal I liked and wanted to look at a sibling. I'm with Michelle though.....hate to see a sales page where half the horses have sold on them for months(though I have one on mine now because he just sold last week :bgrin ).
