I just became aware of an auction site called QuiBids, where you can bid on some nice things for very cheap. It does cost to actually bid, but if you win, it is a good deal! I have not actually tried it yet...but wanted to know if anyone here has and what they think about it.

I have researched a few of these and what I have found is be very careful. There are a couple legitimate ones but then there are some that will start charging fees to your paypal. I would never join one that requires you put your credit card or paypal up front before you ever even bid. Read the fine print! I work for Demand Studios writing online content and we just got one of these as a perk. Thing is most of the really good deals are impossible to get unless you spend hours sitting on the computer. Other deals are no better than what you would get at the retailers website.

They are literally popping up everywhere so just be careful.

I wouldn't use an auction site that charged to BID.

I do stick with eBay, seems to have fair charges for sellers, and of course there is no cost to the bidder.

Good deals can also be found online by shopping around, looking for free shipping/coupon codes, etc.

I went to the site and it looked to good to be true! So I googled it for some info.. Here is one of the things I found about it..

your charged $0.60 each bid, seems like a way for the company to break even, but since each bid is either 1 or 2 cents increments. 1 dollar of bidding is either $60.00 @ 1cent or $30.00 @ 2 cents. so when you see the playstation 3 on there for $66.78 @ a 2 cent bid, that means the company has made $2,003.40 off of a $300 dollar playstation on top of the ending bid u also have to pay.

So legal yes, but also waste of your time, but for Quibids its a great way to sell a ps3 for 6.67 times its actual value.
Wow ML! I never thought of that...that is insane!!

A link was posted to a penny auction on a sewing group that I belong to. I looked into it and was shocked to figure our how it worked. Like Mary Lou said it looked too good to be true. Once you run the numbers you see it is rigged in the auction's favor.

Some sites actually are said to use bots to bid up to a certain amount; ensuring the site of not losing money on any item. The ones using the bots have the ability to turn the bots on and off. So bidder beware, as it appears all bids may not necessarily be made by serious buyers but are made for the auction through these automated bots.

We've used QuiBids, got a $25 Walmart Gift Card from there and hubby only bid twice. We are trying to get an iPad from QuiBids but are being very careful how much we bid.
