My 6 1/2 year old dwarf rabbit, Willow, is leaning his head to the side just a little. I noticed it last night. His eyes aren't rolling and he doesn't have a problem with his balance, it just seems like it is tilted a little. I'm scared because I can't take him to the vet's, because he is EXTREMELY panicy in cars, and at his age, I'm scared he'll have a heart attack. The closest rabbit vet near us, is 30 mintues away, and he freaks out when he's had to go to the cat vet only 10 minutes away.

I was thinking it could do with his teeth? Or maybe an ear infection? Nothing else seems to be wrong with him.

Willow may be developing Head Tilt. The most common cause of it is an middle or inner ear infection or an E. cuniculi infection.

The House Rabbit Society has 2 detailed articles on Head Tilt:

http://www.rabbit.org/health/tilt.html

http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-8/head-tilt.html

I had a rabbit who's head was leaning just a tiny bit but she did not actually have head tilt. She was like that when I got her and the angle of her head never changed. You will just have to wait and see if it gets any worse. Your vet may be able to provide some help over the phone too.

Good luck with Willow,

Jennifer

Barbi Brown's site has a lot of info on treating head tilt, if I remember right. You can do a search and pull up the site pretty easily

When I was typing earlier, I guess I was freaking out because I meant to say that I noticed it this morning, not last night. I've been keeping a really close eye on him and he hasn't done it since about 7:00 this morning. Still acting normal...eating, pooping, no balance issues. I'm hoping that maybe I just caught him at an off moment. He sleeps in a carrier at night time (incase there is ever a fire) and he doesn't usually come out until around 7:30. This morning, I woke up early and let him out around 5:30. Maybe he wasn't fully awake? I will be sure to keep a really really close watch on it, to see if it happens again or more often. Thanks for your help.
