My cart is going down to get re-apolsted this weekend

(waaahhh, no driving cuz its 4 hours away) The plywood is to thin, so its bows and the paddings had gotten too thin that it hurts to sit in the cart after awhile. Its a basic easy entry cart, and I want to keep it vinyl as its an alround cart (meaning my horse and I have been soked to the bone while driving

BUT, I was things of where the white rim around the seat (picture included) was, that I could add something like rinstones??? Would this look bad?? Be too much?? and would it be acceptable in all driving fields?? (shows, parades, CDE's, etc)

Anyway advice or ideas would be fantastic!!!!

I think rinestones would be uncomfortable for you unless it is on the back of the seat and in that case it would also serve as reflectors. If you want to add some "BLING" try conchos on your brest collar and bridle. I do have a farm wagon that is appolstered on the seat and back and behind the back rest it has a gold fring type trim to cover the seam. I am redoing that wagon this summer.

Why not do a different trim like in hot pink or something other than white. It would stick out, but not cause you any discomfort that rhinestones would (you would have to get the ones that stick into the seat, not glue on types). Maybe have fun with the seat colors. And I don't think any of that would be against any driving rule. Nothing states what color your cart has to be.

You could add a row of velcro (self-adhesive) to your seat and then sew your rhinestones or fringe (or both) to the other strip of velcro so it could be attached only when you want to use it and taken off when you don't want to use it.

How about upholstery tacks? They come in brass and chrome, so you could match the metal on your harness for a little extra bling without being over the top. How about a leather spares bag with some rhinestones; something that can be easily removed if you get tired of the look. I like the velcro idea, too.

There's been some great ideas so far!

I'm going to copy some of these down myself. I agree that rhinestones would be very uncomfortable on your legs so probably skip that, but different colors of piping can be fun.

Gotta say, bling in general is frowned on in carriage driving fields like CDE or ADS-style Pleasure Driving shows. It's way fun for parades and such but should probably be removeable or coverable for formal competition. Might be fine in open shows or the breed ring though.

I don't know about putting "Bling" on a cart for a A or R Show. Never seen it, and not sure you would be taken as seriously. Might be fun for fairs or parades though.

I've always preferred solid black (I hate the typical EE seat with black and black with white piping -- blech!!

I do, however, like the tufted look.

As long as it isn't permanent, there are a ton of fun things that you could add for parades or for the marathon portion of a CDE (where a lot of people add some pizzazz...).
