Recently, I purchased an amha stallion.

I've sent the paperwork to amha, learned everythings in good standing, and now I'm just waiting for them.

(I will hardship him into amhr, but waiting for the amha papers so I can do that.)

Here's the thing: My amhr mares are ready for breeding right NOW. I'm tempted to go ahead and start breeding them to my new stallion (my only stallion).... but worried that the foals would not qualify for amhr registration....since the stallion is not amhr during the time of breeding.

Can anyone give me feedback/knowledge on the rules in this matter?

Today, I called amhr to ask about this, but they didn't answer the phone (got recorder)....they must have been very busy.

Your help/input apprceciated....

Go ahead and breed your mares, by the time you need to send in your stallion report, your stallion should be AMHR registered. We have done stallion reports with stallions pending registration as well as put mares on the reports with pending registrations. But as long as you have the stallion registered before you try to register any foals, you will be fine.

minimom is right--as long as the stallion is registered by the time you go to register the foals, you will be fine.

I bred my AMHA stallion to my AMHR mare last July, and didn't send in his AMHR hardship paperwork til December. At the same time, I also sent in my breeding report, listing him with AMHA name/# and AMHR pending. After I got back his registration, I did call AMHR and verify they had his stallion report on file (for my peace of mind) and all was ok.

Thank you everyone, for letting me know
