So, I feel that I am pretty savvy when it comes to computer/photo images and such. I like the idea of being able to construct my own website and being able to change its content when need be, without having to rely on a third party to do it. With that said, what host companies offer user friendly templates and reliable sites for a good price.

After having horses all my life, having minis for the last several years, and having a few for sale every so often, it is time I get my act together and get a site done.

Let me know which ones are thumbs up and which ones to stay away from.

On the excellent advice from REO, I have built my own website using Web Easy Professional 7 and then used ArisHost.com to upload to the web. I think it cost about $35 to buy the Web Easy and then it is only #30/year to host with Aris. It was confusing at first learning how to get the layout done and then uploading to the web the first time. But now, I just make changes in web easy as I think about them and then upload to the web about once a week. I just did it this morning and it took all of about 5 minutes. Web Easy is nice because it is just drag and drop for the pics and such.

I used www.freewebs.com to set mine up and then bought my domain name - but I think they are very easy to use and easy to do updates... They are rarely ever down or if they are going to be doing maintainence and be down they will post a message so you know in advance. I am thinking it costs me less than 20 a year for the host and then the domain name is like another 20 a year or so.... I bought several years at once and you get a better deal if you go that way

But for that price you can have unlimited pictures, and unlimited pages.

Good Luck!

This is the only one I have ever used, so cannot compare. Mine is still the freebie although I have upgraded...just haven't took the time to redo it. I am not very computer savy..to say the least. I cannot think of any problems I have had with it, if you want to check it out Bravenet.com

I've used Earthlink to host my site for 7 or 8 years. They do have templates, but I haven't used theirs. Mine is easy for me to update (just takes me a few minutes). It's never down, either.

I use SimpleURL.com

They are a small company that offers great service. They have never been down and have been quick to answer any questions I have. I understand they have free software you can use to build your site but I have not tried it yet. I think I pay a little less that $60 yr for unlimited space and bandwidth.

Used to use Geocities but it was moved over to Yahoo and I love it. Have used it for years.

I'm creating one on Intuit right now - it's okay, but not great.
