Just wondering if anyone will be showing their minis at the Westfield Fair Horse Show. I plan on attending but not showing, my guys are just pasture pets

No, but I went to one of their shows in the beginning of the summer and they only had a 2 minis in the driving class. They didn't have any other minis for the show. One of the minis in the drving class went into the inhand clkass and lead line class. The poor mini was only about 29 inches tall and they had a 5 year old riding him. IMO the kid was too big for the liitle guy. He buckled when the kid got on.

I hope that they have more than that otherwise I probably won't go. My husband already doesn't want to go since he's saving his money for Cummington and Blandford. I can't believe someone would put a 5 year old on a 29" mini!! What were they thinking?

I wish I had known about this! I think we were the ones that got mini classes added to the fair 2 years ago, and then they got dropped last year. And I guess we got dropped from the mailing list! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this year. I wonder how they advertised it??? I showed my big horse at the Westfield Fair Show for years.

I saw it on the Westfield Fair's website. I just went back there and when I clicked on Saturday Horse Show a class schedule comes up that says Sat. August 18, 2007. I didn't even notice the date before but a horse show is listed on the fair schedule page for the 16th. So maybe they aren't having the mini classes this year. I don't know why they didn't update the class schedule.

There is more than that wrong with the class schedule if you look at it - 2 difference class 31's for example, and some of the class number are missing. Those are the mini classes that we proposed and were offered in 2006. There were 4 minis that year - we brought 3 of them! The judge had never judged minis before and I think he was very impressed with what they could do. He seemed to have as much fun as we did!

So I would really wonder if they were offering mini classes this year??? Now, if enough people were interested, maybe we could start lobbying them to offer mini classes for NEXT year.

That would be cool. I'd like to see more mini classes at the shows. I just met a new woman and she has a grand champion driving gelding that her brother for North Carolina gave her. She willing to train my Smarty to drive for me and keep him for the rest of the summer to do so. She looking for more local show to show him at.
