They usually sleep, or sometimes they play. Right now the young one that was dropped off by our place hasn't yet been fixed or declawed, so he's a pain. The older ones avoid him yet because of his claws, and I've also found him up on the tables, or up on my desk, or I wake up to find things that were on my desk.......on the floor. Hopefully within the next couple weeks he'll be going to the vet again to get both those things taken care of.

The older two that are fixed already have gotten fat and lazy, so they are pretty well behaved. I usually keep our bedroom door closed at night because the tabby male is up and down all night long, and being a light sleeper, he wakes me up. So sometimes I hear them meowing at or padding on the door wanting to come in. That's really about it, they are pretty good.

Our cats don't seem to be much if any more active at night. They are pretty lazy in general day and night but the thing that really has made me not a cat person is how they like to scratch up the furniture. Ours have scratching posts but prefer my sofa and love seat which really upsets me to see how they have damaged them. I feel like declawing is inhumane, but at the same time, when I hear that noise they make when sharpening claws on furniture, I just want to strangle them. It just really adds to the flame the way they look over their shoulders at me and don't make any hint of stopping until I get close enough. They look me right in the eye when I'm telling them NO but if I'm not close enough to "get them", they pay no respect. I have started spraying them with a spray bottle of water but that only works when I'm here to spray them. Oh they make me mad....

And I caught them in this "awkward" position in the bathroom one day.........oh my! If this don't make you chuckle............I know I did!

absolutely hysterical, lol!!!

I have to ask this, what do your house cats do at night? We've tried having one, a time or two and they ended up tearing the house apart at night.
They don't tear the house apart, but they do spend most of the night running around like morons and bouncing off the walls. They have slowed down a lot in the last few years but when they were young they slept all day and played all night. Now I try to play with them enough during the day that they will sleep most of the night.

We have four inside and they all sleep during the night. Lottie does move things at night though, but just a dish across the floor. She loves to do that.

sometimes it sounds like I have 2am elephant race going on in my house with the way my cats rip around here at night. I'd just shut my bedroom door but then they would spend the whole night pawing at the door, lol.
