Hey guys here's my girl a month later and 90 lbs heavier! She is doing just great and is turning out to be one of the most awsome horses I've ever owned. She is an absolute joy to ride and is such a sweet grand old gal. I paid $500 for her but wouldn't take 10 times that much for her now.

Here she was the day I picked her up.

And this was yesterday, another 100 lbs and she will be total perfection.

: Although she doesn't look it from the picture, she still is quite thin along her topline but riding and exercise is helping to distribute her weight correctly again.

She looks FANTASTIC!!!! If it wasn't for the shape of her face, I wouldn't have known it was the same horse!

WOW! What a difference! :new_shocked:

You should be very proud of her AND yourself!

Wow, what an amazing and oh so wonderful transition! You should feel very good about yourself for what you have done for your pretty girl!

WOW she looks amazing!

Congratulations and keep up the great work.

Kudos to you for rescuing a wonderful girl and giving her the chance to be as wonderful outside as she is inside.

Great job :aktion033: She looks great! Is 90 pounds considered a lot for a horse to gain in a month? I'd go insane if I gained that much in a month

OMG she looks amazing! Her coat just glistens! Superb job, I am giving you a standing ovation!!! YES!!! :aktion033:

Thanks everybody, I am so proud of her and just love her so much.

: I think her weight gain is about average for the beginning of a rehab diet. It is pretty high protien and fat to prevent metabolism issues. But she actually is isn't eating as much as many hard keepers--2 flakes of alfalfa, 1lb. beet pulp, 3 lbs. high fat grain concentrate with vitamins and 3 cups of rice bran, twice dally. I do ride or exercise her daily which really helps too. The only extras she gets are flax for her coat and Cortiflex for her joints with an occasional treat of cookies, carrots or apples. Well maybe more than just "occasional"

: Her appetite leveled off last week so that's telling me I need to decrease her feed a bit. Her weight gain should be much slower over the next two months until she tops out at about 1000 lbs.

You are going to love this...I have always been a strong proponent of rice bran. The stuff is just awsome and is amazing what it can do for your horse's health and coat. I saw an internet ad for this "miracle" product the other day. Guaranteed to get you brimming with good health if you used it for a couple of months only $134.00 for a 1 lb. tub of it. Ahem, you guessed it--stablized rice bran. I've begun adding it to my oatmeal with some flax and you know it really is good stuff but I think I'll continue to buy it by the 50lb sack at the feed store for about $10 a bag.

Edited: And yes Deb thank you especially so!

: Those crystals you picked out for her are all part of her superb progress.

Oh my gosh!!!!!!! You have done such an amazing job with her!!! I bet you the luckiest day in her life was the day she stepped into your trailer! Does not even look like the same mare! Good for YOU and good for HER!!!

Oh Shirley thank you so much. It gives me great joy to see an animal or human improve and if my stones helped a bit I am honored! Don't forget to cleanse and recharge them weekly!!!

Oh Shirley, yea for you! I applaude you for helping a girl in need and it looks like she soooo needed some tlc, looks like the perfect match was made. I am so happy for you both!!! She looks awesome!!

Gotta say the palomino in the background caught my eye as well, love her as well!!! They are very lucky horses!! :bgrin

 Even Dais has put on weight this month. Hmmmm, amazing what happens when you feed them. I've really not done much more than ensure the girls get the appropriate amount of feed everyday.

No more withers on this girl anymore

: Speaking of her fat butt, hubby calls this her hook shot, as in tail hook view landing on an aircraft carrier. Of course I had just groomed her so she had to roll, it’s our arrangement. :bgrin

I've named my new stallion Mignon, as in the fillet. He is learning to let me catch him and is doing very well for a wild boy. Trig and Blue don't like him much but I think they will accept him after he's gelded. He really isn't aggressive and just wants to be left alone but they insist on bugging him when I turn them out together. T&B are pretty dominant so it may take time for them to allow him into thier little clique.

OMG now that's a butt!!!!! :aktion033: :aktion033: I am so glad that Mignon is doing good too!!!
