What a difference 5 days makes!!! Our maiden mare Mira decided to foal last night about three weeks early (at 303 days). Luckily I noticed the sticky milk at 6 PM and hurredly put on her Equipage and put her in the foaling stall. By 9 PM we had our very first live foal at On Target Miniatures, a very load pinto colt.

It was not uneventful, but at least not heartbreaking, as all our other foaling attempts have been.

Here he is at about 1 hour old: Not sure of color but he must be either bay or silver bay pinto and looks like he has one blue eye. I will have him tested but guess he is LWO+ and also tobiano. I do not see any signs of graying - will likely have him tested for that too. He could be purple and we wouldn't care!

Or you can see him live at http://www.marestare.com/cam.php?alias=ontarget

Proud parents are mom Jones Call Me Blue Admiration (a Cross Country Call Me Awesome daughter out of a Blue Boy bred mare) and dad SRF Buckshot (son of Res. National Champion Buck Ons Causin Commotion, paternal 1/2 brother to National Champion SRF Nobility and maternal 1/2 brother to National Champion Buck-Ons Hot Gossip. So the foal has Rowdy, Buckeroo and Blue Boy blood.

Awww... CongRats!!..

He is beautiful and does almost 100% same marking on his each side.

How cool is that!... ;)

God Bless!

I felt like I was right there with you during the birth.

Glad it all came out O.K.

What type of malposition was that???

The malposition last week was that only one foot was presenting and it was over the back of the head so it looked like the left foot when it was really the right one. And the other foot was all the way back along the side. Of course when we looked for the foot, we first looked on the wrong side. That vet never could release the foot and the foal had to be cut up to be removed. Last night the foal appeared to be presenting the same way and I was in a panic, even with the vet (a different one because he lives closer) on the way. Only one foot... couldn't find the other one. Vet took over when he arrived but he had trouble too. While he was looking for the other foot I actually had yet another vet on the phone for extra help, but then all of a sudden a miracle happened and the foal popped out ALIVE. While I was on the phone!!! So I am not really sure where that other foot was last night, but I will ask.

I was waiting for pictures!!! I watched live last night and what a gorgeous miracle he is!!! "Picture Perfect" for sure!!! My mare is at day 307, so now I'm in a panic!

Huge Congratualtions to you all!!!!

If it were me, once he came out alive, I would have had tons of "happy tears", esp. after the long wait for a viable foal. I am so happy you have a hit a positive note after all you have been through.
