Spots showing up on my mare

So I last year Bahama had a couple of spots showing up when I shaved her. They looked like they may have been rub marks and just grew in a different color. Well noticed this year after shaving her she has them ALL over now. I dont think she has appy in her back ground as her sire is Little Kings Buckwheat and her dam is Flying W Farms Blues Rangerett. Plus shes 6 yrs old and its just starting to show up.

Is it dapples?

I dont know. They are brown spots. Can she start developing dapples at an older age like that?

No, they aren't dapples. I would say bite marks. Is she in a herd environment?

Shes out with a couple of other mares during the day but they get along fine. Ive never seen sores on her like she been bit.

I am just going to throw this out there as an option. I have seen horses get spots like that if they have a parasite, like lice, fleas, or even flies biting them and causes sores that you may not be able to actually see but they will grow back in as different colors but if you treat them and get rid of the problem it should grow back to the natural color eventually. There are some sprays and powders you can buy that will take care of lice and flies. If you think this is a possiblility let me know and I will look up the name of the stuff we use on our show horses to prevent anything coming home with them.

I dont know. Ive never seen any bugs on her when Ive clipped her and shes not extra itchy. I mean it could be possible but shes not showing signs of having bugs.

That could be it. They look just like the palomino with the Bend Or Spots. I dont like them though

I hope she dont keep getting them. Its taking away from her pretty buckskin color.

Bandelero Spots (oil spots). I have a chestnut mare who has lots of them. Annoying?, but makes her stand out a bit!

Those look like Ben d'Or spots to me....never heard of Bandolero spots, any more info on that??

No wait I have seen this before.....It was on a larger horse .. a show horse special breed , and she had the exact coloring and spots. I was told it was the type of breed... Pretty if you want my oppinion... I like anything unusual , and pleasing to the eye. But i dont THINK its anyting like a disorder. this horse had them all over and they were the same size . it was an imported horse, and very expensive . Now there is is type of horse in Sweeden that has spots like this all over , about the size of a nickel, but the base color is white or gray. we have one down the road , she is a pony , about 14 hands or so , and they are used in the circus... does that help?

They don't look like Bend Or/smudge/oil spots to me.

Looks like the hair is coarser and longer? I've seen these "pig hairs" have some kind of coat trauma- either bug bites, hives, fungus, scald, nips, bites, hot/cold shock ect.

The hair is not longer or courser. It feels just like the rest of her hair. The spots are not raised or anything unsual about them. They look normal but to me they aint as she didnt have them before, or not as many or as big. The larger spots seem to have gotten larger since last yr. I am thinking now they are those Bend Or Spots.

It is crazy what these coat colors can do.

I am sorry that you don't like them, I like them. They don't look like horse bite marks or bug bit marks to me. I don't think they'll be going away.
